Is there a good skill up path post 188? Most of the guides seem to be outdated and I'm not certain how to proceed at this point.

The guides are not outdated because by 188 you have already passed nearly (possibly all) of the recipes that were converted.'

I would stick to making solutions (and save them) up to 243. Mix the variety a bit, then follow previously mentioned skill-up paths.

Or you could make the new spell scrolls using the various Spellcaster's Essence spells. This, depending on how the binding powders sell on your server, will be the cheapest and/or more bang for your buck way. One binding powder + spellcaster's essence = 2 attempts for the price of one.

Right now, on the 7th Hammer/Lany's server the prices for binding powders are all over the place. Some low level binding powders are more expensive than upper level ones I've been vendor diving mine and pay less than 1pp (iirc)* for intricate so it can be really cheap. The only hitch is the cost for making the spell to cast the essences which can run between 1k-3k pp to make if you succeed on making the spell the first time. But that's better than paying 1k-3k per research attempt by making spells. Alternatively to that, you can get an INT caster who already has those spells to create some essences for you (or buy in the baz if some casters are selling them this way).

*Allah has intricate binding powder as having a merchant value of 5pp. I don't remember paying more than 1pp for these items but I must have because the merchants wouldn't pay more than they sell them for--or would they?
