Doh! The recipe for the non-adjective parchment is still disabled. Tried to do the combine and got a DNC message. So, Ngreth was right and we didn't get lucky with an accidental activation of the recipe.

Do the servers actually have to come down for a patch to activate this recipe? Seems weird that you can turn something on and off but have to pull down the game just to do it. It also seems that I remember other things that have been turned on/off without bringing down the servers.

In any event, we know this recipe is still turned off.

because Alchemy can work on ANY zone in the game, it needs to be loaded by every zone in the game. Like Items and Spells. Any of these files need to have the whole server come down to get them synchronized across all zones.

My way of "turning them off" is to set the field that defines what tradeskill (container type...) is used to a negative number. That makes it invalid as far as the system is concerned, so it is "disabled"

Oh, wow. Thanks for the insight! Good to know for the future in similar situations so I can predict what will happen with a patch for certain tradeskills. And, it also explains some other things.

Patch days just got a little less painful for me lol
