Hide troubles

I'm 47 mage with 64 spell research, a level 26 mage asked me to make a spell for her and I agreed... I tried the old way... an hour and a lot of frustration later I was looking up the new system

What I am confused about is how I'm going to get my hands on some raw supple hide for both her and myself (when I need my new pet at 49).

According to alla they only drop in Blightfire Moor and... I'm on the Combine Server (SS is not open yet, this is a progression server)! Do they drop elsewhere or am I doomed to... not have my spells? It doesn't seem right that suddenly we can't get our spells while there are obviously older mages on server that have theirs from the old system.

I want to guess and I'm hoping that it would of been added to the loot table game-wide as I was finding "binding" type loot in Kaesora last night (and had no clue what it was for, heh).

PS. ..... Also I'm badly confused as to why the new system had to REPLACE the old one, as the two systems seem to use different loot and combine kits completely.

As for your concern - the parchmnents/hides/etc are meant to be global drops, if it isn't happening on The Combine, they will fix it.

Welcome to the frustration in my world for the last 2 days. and even tho im on Erollisi Marr, i couldnt get the hides myself for my 29 mage. i spent over 2 hours in blightfire moors trying to get them to drop, no dice. Hopefully the patch today will fix the issues. as for my spell i had some one else make it for me, and got it about an hour ago.

Well I can't even go to Blightfire Moor so I'm looking for animals/creates 20-29 in hopes of getting a drop. Nothing so far, I'll be sure to report on Alla or here if I manage to find something!

Sadly, as far as I know, hides and such only drop in TSS zones. I got some off of the gnolls there. Your mileage may vary. Good Luck.

They break the old spell research and don't even take into account the progression servers? What about the people who .. don't have that expansion, why should those int casters be crippled?

As has been stated, they did take them into account. However, an error in code is preventing spell parts to drop on the global list as intended. The patch today should address the problem. (Parts were still dropping prior to the patch, in DoD zones, jsut not on the global list). Hang in there, they will be coming.

Also, there are other options for casters as research is not the only path for spells (I think except for a very few low/mid level spells, there is always another route, be it vendor or quest). There are often equivalent or slightly lower level versions of the spells that will work just fine if you cannot wait until the problem is corrected.

Confirmed Drop: Raw hide off batling in the bottom of warrens

and

Confirmed Drop Fine Hide off Goblin Diviner in Permafrost.

I need Raw Supple Hide, I think I just need to find the right level range--I'm going to try some of the goblins in Solusek's Eye.

Unfortunately there's no way except to craft my friend's water pet, as well as mine, but I wanted to level spell research anyway.

I'd like to add that I actually like the new system, I just wasn't thrilled at being locked out of it.

But that should be fixed now. Find appropriate level caster mobs and hunt them
