  • "Pretty" New inks / and color changes

After the last patch our inks got new graphics ... very nice! (no complaints here)

Funny thing is even though it was only the bottle / colors graphics
that changed, its going to take me a while to get used it. On my mule I have all the inks premaid and layed out in his bags alphabetically so i can find them easily. Infact, I was able to grab inks without even having to look at the label. After the change, i found myself having to check the labels again

I didnt think to check at the time, but was there a ryhme or reason to which inks got which graphic or color? ie did each of the Ink (Elements, Life, Miscellany) get their own bottle graphic? Does each ink now have a unique bottle graphic / color? Just curious, but it does sound pains takingly enough that is something that our little house ogre would put himself through for our benefit.

One "comment" that I do have, is that most of the thickeners now seem to have largely the same color, a sickly green it think it was. That I wasnt too crazy about at all. Makes it ALOT harder to distinguish, specially if you keep them all premaid.

LOL I'm pretty much in the same boat with keeping everything alphabetical, but for the most part, I still had to hold down alt to find what I am looking for.

All in all, I like the graphics changes.

I can find Ink of Pain and Tunare pretty easily, but the rest do throw me for a loop. I think they look awesome though, and a nice change to keep things separate from the dozens of other items that have the blood/ink/essence graphic.

The violent green of the thickeners was a bit surprising.. kind of scares my eyes, but I guess I'll get used to that.

      Next... new quills!

        Checked when i got home:

several different inks do infact have the same graphics/color combo and no correlation between graphic and ink that i could tell :P (to late to make that suggestion?)

also... notice all the thickeners and the sickly green color

Yeah. I got green, and unfortunately most of the thickeners were some type of "green" :/ (I believe their lore describes all of them with green within it)

I may see if I can pull some trickery and get some extras to make it better, but cannot promise anything.

and there was a pattern. I used one bottle style for stats, one for resists and one for everything else (I did not write it down and did it on the fly). At least that is what I think I did I know I had a system. I just did not write it down now remember it

I organized the inks in order to "break your code", and like i orginally thought, the bottle style differentiates the ink type: Elements, Life, Miscellany (as per
            Systematic Spell Research Volumes 4-6)

*Please note that Ink of Therris Thule appears to have the wrong bottle graphic

The one comment i would make is that some of the ink colors get used serveral times, even though there are a few unsed icons for each set. Unfortunately, there are only 9 colors for each bottle type so duplicates are inevitable for inks of Life and Miscellany.

Thanks so much for organizing the ink bottles for us. Most helpful.

I've been trying to figure out why there are 4 whites and 2 blues left from the thickeners as well .... any theory?

The inks and thickeners were based on actual colors.

Unfortunately some of the colors came out as "silver" for which I ended up using white

I will try and swap the terris thule (I have a spreadsheet and I think that one is out of order on my spreadsheet)

As a long term suggestion, instead of creating new icons to represent different colors (and continuing to assign a single icon to each item), what about assigning each item a base icon, an overlay icon, and a tint value for the overlay icon? That way a select portion of each icon could be tinted based on the individual item, without having to modify the icon graphics files themselves.

It would make it much easier to guarantee somewhat unique icons for each type of ink. It would apply to the colored backpacks as well--and it would allow for the easy introduction of new colors with new expansions.

Why again did the Thickeners change color?

I did a batch of spells, and have to admit all that green thickener threw me off
