  • Slow skillups 190s

Spell Research is the last TS I have not skilled to 200+. And it's not for the lack of trying. According to the calculator, I should average an 11% skill up rate, but I've been consistently getting about a 6% rate. It feels like I get smithing skills up in the 280s faster. I've mostly been using Vellum Parchment Solutions but I've recently switched to making spells (need to use those nearly 200 solutions for something) but I haven't done enough spell combines to see if I get a better rate. My trophy evolved to lvl 4 about 20 combines ago and I would estimate that I need about 100 more combines to get to a 200 skill level. I've had some times where a trophy skilled slightly faster than I did for various skills, but this is by far the biggest lag I've seen. No one else has posted similar complaints about this so I guess it really must be an evil rng. I've had bad spots before with different tradeskills but never this early. In fact, until 182, SR was clearly an easy TS. It's so vastly different now and definitely the slowest of any other tradeskill from 183-200, that I feel compelled to post and ask if anyone experienced any problems like this?

I had a few runs of 100 or so solutions without skill-ups before I hit 242, the RNG is just evil!

Post-250 I've skilled up a lot faster than my trophy, although it's caught up somewhat since my last 3 skill-ups (286-289) took about 80 spells apiece :/.

      Slow Skill ups using solutions

Now that I've switched from making only solutions, I've gotten 5 skill ups in only about 20 combines. Sure this can merely be attributable to the rng reverting to the mean, however, I very much believe that solution-making alone has a much lower skill up rate than making parchments or spells. My advice would be to think of the solutions as having a modest extra chance to get a skill-up as you make spells, not as a skill-up path all on their own.

I skilled up VERY quickle from 190-200! It was good luck though... But now I'm glad I'm at 206!

Every tradeskill I've worked up has had a MAJOR slowdown from 190 - 200. Once ou get past that 200, it starts working a little better again. I'd wager a guess that since the original cap was 200, there's a hiccup hidden somewhere deep in the code that makes those last 10 points to 200 super hard. It's still possible to get lucky with the RNG and blast through them, but mostly, they're just a pain.

            RNG makes me sad

            My raw skill 269
            Modified skill 290

            140 attempted lvl 63/64 spells

            135 successes

            0 skill-ups

Last night, I wasn't sure if I wanted to weep, smash my head into the keyboard, or stop researching alltogether.

Today, I just think it's kind of funny.

The only good thing? I went from 38% trophy to 52%. Oh, and now I have about 3 backpacks of spells that I'll be selling for the next year. Hehe.
