Currently, my research skill is at 112. I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion of things I should make to get it higher. All in all, my goal is 300, but I know that is a long ways off.

How about something good to get me to about 175...?

Farm up mass (and I do mean MASS) quantities of Saltpeter and Crystallized Sulfur. Make the various level cleansers for DoD research. Save the cleaners, and stockpile the parchments, to make spells later.

1) Get the DoDh-era Spell Research kit in Corrathus Creep. You can combine various inks, quills, etc that trivial at ~31-35. Or you can skip right to Vial of Pure Water (trivial 54.) Then make Muriatic Acid, Oil of Vitriol, Aqua Fortis and Aqua Regia (all trivial at 102.) Save all of these for later.

2) Get your LoY research tome in the Gulf of Gunthak and start making swatches from vendormined components: there are swatches which trivial at 112, 132, 136, 142, 152

3) As a necro, you should save any Words of the Ethereal you get while hunting or find on NPC merchants, as it is the only component in the level 48 Lich spell (trivial 182). Same goes for Words of Crippling Force, the only component in the level 46 Paralyzing Earth spell (also trivial 182.) (These must be combined in the Classic-era research tome you can buy at any casters' guild.)

4) Intermingled with the above combines you can also make various "____ Solutions" using the DoDh kit. They are used to clean the spell parchments you need to make level 60-65 spells. The trivials for teh solution, and for cleaning the parchment, are the same. Parchment/Parchment Solution (triv 144), Fine Parchment/Fine Parchment Soution (triv 174), Vellum Parchment/Vellum Parchment Solution (triv 203), Fine Vellum Parchment/Fine Vellum Parchment Solution (triv 216), Runic Parchment/Runic Parchment Solution (triv 243)

5) Intermingled with ALL of the above, collect Words for spells, look up recipes and combines spells.

6) for 243+, only spell recipes will get you to 300.

research is an "easy" skill to raise, as in it doesn't require the usual 50 combines minimum per skillup, like fletching and others. I gained a lot of my post 200-227pts doing 1-5 combines at a time, buying out /bazaar LoY combines (need skill of 100 to get that book).

writ of quellious, sliver of moonstone, dew clover, lots and lots of combines to do. Enc wasn't bad, not sure what nec only combines.

also, at lvl 70, veksar was pretty generous with words (agony )

Cleaners as in Parchment Solutions for the varied levels of the parchments in DoDH? (Meaning, Parchment Solution, Fine Parchment Solution, etc?)
