  • Spell Recipes Disabled

The following LDoN spell research recipes have been disabled: Death's Despair, Instinctual Panic, Eidolon Bellow, Soulless Panic, Angstlich's Echo of Terror, Jitterskin, Unholy Bellow, Shadow Bellow, Call of the Muse, Guidance
Is there a reason why that anybody knows of or can speculate about? Also, will these recipes be reintroduced? I hope so, would love to gey my Call of the Muse song for my bard

I can give you 84 crystal clear reasons, as not all of those are "LDoN" spells.

So most of these are DoN spells that you can get with crystals?

Replace "get with" with "sell for" then you will see the reason they were removed.

Basically, you could research these spells and then sell them to the DoN guy for 84 crystals. I assume and LDoN spell could be "sold" for LDoN points.

SOE only intends folks to get crystals or points by doing missions, teh "sellback" NPCs were intended only to refund partial crystals/points on previously bought items, when folks decided to cash in due to upgrading previously obtained gear.

At least I know now why those spells moved so briskly in the bazaar even at 5K pp a pop. It's too bad they disabled the research rather than disabling the sell back feature for these spells. We'll probably never be able to research LDoN spells now

Call of the Muse produced from the recipe was no drop... so no bards could get it anyway as they can't research. Never should have gone in at all as its a LDoN song. I dunno if you could return it or not... I didn't want to waste a runic parchment to find out.

I tried selling one of the [researched, droppable] DoN-era spells (either Unholy Bellow or Shadow Bellow) to a Dark Reign merchant post-patch. Sadly, it didn't work.

Well, leave it to Sony to mess up somethng then mess it up better(???Worse???) to fix it. LOL

Why indeed could they make the vender price like 1 crystal then people would rather chew thier arm off than sell to the vender...They go to the wrong extream IMHO to remove exploits. Better to keep in the exploits and make them not profitable at all than to tell people ok folks now you can research em...oops now you cant.

Personaly I would like to see all spells researchable, this way you could find the items you need to make them and do so. But hey this is a fantasy world after all, so let me dream...lol

Because the spells are not intended to be researched. They are still too new. Just recently did they give the ability to do lvl 65 spells. Yeah, teh 61 spells from don are lower level, however they are new content still, and still deserving of the effort needed to get them. It's game balance. Maybe 3 years down the road when DoNs are like pulling teeth, all spells through OoW and DoN will be researchable, but that's years down the road.

Its my opinion that SoE has an above average frequency of "one hand not knowing what the other hand is doing" syndrome. Its pretty much always been this way... not just about tradeskills. You just have to live with it.

That or join the crowd of cynics who believe they do this on purpose to sell more copies of the expansion then retroactively nerf it once people are committed.

Personally I think the LDoN spells should be researchable...

Just have the result be "Scroll of Reflect" or something like that (similar to how "Scroll of Brain Bite" is really the Wizard's Concussion spell.

                              Today's Patch Message

Today's patch message alludes to the mention of Unholy Bellow being USABLE.
-The Research Recipe to make Unholy Bellow has been disabled.

So how did it get re-enabled if it was supposed to have been disabled a long time ago???
