Help on research

Is there any other way to skill up other then pratice runes. Im currently doing the Training azia and bezia but getting the raw-hide armor is long and tedious (sorry drop rate)

Check into doing the various parchment solutions for DoD research. Also you can research pre-PoP spells. Many of the spells under lvl 50 require components that are commonly dumped on venders.

Look at all the sub combines for the DoDh research system. Just doing the materials you will need to make solutions might be skill ups for you since you are still looking at practice runes

Is/would this be level restricted...I have not really looked into this as I am only 34 and not a fast leveler... Are the components for DoD subcombines tradeable vendor purchasable? Any thing has to be better than the drop rate on some Practice components...

With the exception of Crystallized Sulfur and Saltpeter, which are both fairly plentiful and cheap in the bazaar, everything for DoDH research is vendored, unless you want to actually *make* spells with research, then you'll also need a parchment for spell making, but I wouldn't attempt any until you're around 200.

Edit - Forgot to mention, I don't believe it's level restricted. They got rid of various level restrictions a bit ago.

A Faded Velishoul's Tome Page and A Faded Salil's Writ Page are good options i think from 88 up to 162 i think (depending on what the page turns out to be). They are relatively cheap and plentiful (usually), especially doing vendor mining after patches/server resets. Can even find them cheap in bazaar from time to time. This only works if you are a chanter tho I guess

I still maintain that, if researchers ever get a trophy, it should be called 'experts shovel of dumpster diving' for all the vendor mining we have to do to skill up!!!!

Yeah I knew about that, was wondering what levels dropped the components, I have since done a little research and OWWW it aint gonna be my Little mage...

If you have the plat, you can get to 243 on making various solutions. I think without sulfur and saltpeter, you can get to around 100. Sulfur drops off just about anything in game, Saltpeter drops from PoI mobs and Creep Reapers, so you probably couldn't farm it till around 60. As a 70 necro, I can clear the left side trench and sell tinkering stuff my gnome friend doesn't need to Nitram at the zin before repops.

A friend of mine who has been laying waste to CS for tailoring stuff keeps me supplied with sulfur while I farm PoI for saltpeter a couple tiems a week. Got 6 skillups to 242 on 45 combines on the last run, just one more to go on solutions!
