  • Scrindites Holepoker

I am currently doing the Belfast quest plus collecting mechanotablets for eventual research combines. I am not a gnome so won't be able to make the holepoker I need to do the combine. None are for sale in the bazaar either. I imagine I shall have to wait until someone actually makes one.

But what is done with the mechanoinstructions that you make with the mechanotablets? I cannot find any information on this anywhere except that they are parts for seals, otherwise known as augs.

Can anyone shed more light on this?

    Instructions, Seal, Stone, Goo.

    Put into AAAA.

Press Combine. AAAA poofs, and you have Augment.

Probably not the best place to ask this ... but somewhat related. Anyone having horrible luck with Intruction Parchments?

I had a guildie with 300 baking and Tailoring,GM trophy for both, salvage 3 and tailoring mastery 3, attempt the combine. With enough components for 9 instruction parchments, she was only able to make 3 Intruction parchements successfully, and salvaged very little other then then skinning knife (which is returned anyway).

So with 315 in skills and reciepe trivals @ 273 does a 33% success rate make sense? Shes heavily into trade skills and was quite shocked at how many times she failed. Anyone else having this problem? Or was this just an extremely bad run of luck?

Seems to be a high difficulty on parchments and instructions as I fail them even though they're trivial, quite often.

Like Ive said in other posts ... im a tradeskill novice. However, shouldn't an item with a trival level less then one's skill be exactly that, Trivial to make?

Way I understand it there's a denominator modifier that can make the chance of success less depending on the assigned difficulty of the combine.

This isn't to say these combines actually have that applied - I could just be hitting a run of bad luck.

But I have to say when I get fails way below triv on different days with several combines it raises my eyebrows.

It also might help you understand this if you read the text from the book that says how to make the parchment.

The the paper [instruction parchment] is made by preparing some sporali skin with witheran bile and a skinning knife. Take this prepared skin and bake it in an oven with a high quality firing sheet. This sheet will absorb the toxins from the bile, making it useless when you are done.

I have found that no matter how much practice i have had, i ruin the paper thirty five times for every 234 times i try and make it. i think it has to do with the fragility of the sporali skin.
First off .. booo to this :P, sure this adds a bit of realism and flavor to the game ... but still Booooo to this idea. (.i admit this not a very well thought out arugment)

Secondly 35/234 = 15% fail rate. Something is still wrong if were only getting 3 parchments out of a possible 9 (33% success rate) at 300 skill. Mind you i am admittedly a TS novice.

Hmmm, I made the prepared sporali skin first time (only tried once). Glad I didn't read all your posts before I hit the combine, I wouldn't died heh. I haven't however done the baking part yet, so we'll see. I have 300 tailoring with 15% modifier.

9 combines is a very very small sample size.
