Who do I need to talk to in DoD to start the Researcher quest so I can make the stuff needed for the AAAA that can ONLY be made by researchers?

Once you complete the initial "gather" quest for him, these become available.

Do the Scrindite's portion of the quest.

You'll kill a lot of Ragepaws in Undershore, collecting their various bits. Once you've done this, you will get a copy of Scrindite's Senescent Scribbles.

These Scribbles enable you to make Scrindite's Holepunch Mold, which in turn allows you to create Poxysmit's Holepunch.

A Tinker combine (404 Trivial) of Poxysmit's Holepunch, along with Scrindites Instruction Holepoker casing, among a few other things, will yield the Holy Grail for Researchers this expansion.

Without a doubt, the most interesting, far-out item ever for anyone who has loved doing Research even through all these drought years.

This item is a 4 slot container with a combine button. The skill needed for these combines is Research.

This thing is hard to make with the high trivial, but once made it is this item which takes the Mechanotablets that drop from the Creep Reapers and turns them into the instructions which will then be read by Ambleshift's Amazing Automated Amalgamator to make the DoD Augmentations.

These Augmentations are fantastic, BTW. The best ones are 180/180 and 210/210 with an Anguish focus and are slot 12 Augmentations. So the Cultural Armor with its slot 7, slot 11, and slot 12 Augmentation Slots can rival Anguish armor in stats and effects - a viable, interesting, wonderful upgrade path that nods to the effort that we Tradeskillers have been making all these years.

All this is still kind of Underground knowledge but the word is starting to trickle out on these Augmentations, and interest is starting to ramp up.

If I were you I'd complete the Scrindite's portion of the Bellfast quests, get your device tinkered, and be ready to Research instructions for people.

What a great idea, and a great expansion for Researchers.

Like they said, you start with Belfast in Corathus doing Parts for Bellfast

Loot 1 mechanoinstuction scrap
Hail Belfast
You say, 'What mechanoinstructions?'
You say, 'What can I help you with?'
Recieve the task "Parts for Belfast"

Now here there are different things that happen I think based on your class, but basically you need to loot 10 unique scraps from the creapers.

For the intcasters you then combine 3 or 4 scraps into new pages, then hand the completed pages to Belfast for some book iirc.

Further hailing and text.

Then loot 5 Clockwork Pinion gears and 2 Clockwork gears from creapers or other clockwork models (they give negative faction hits though).

Give those back to Belfast and he gives you a book, and this unlocks the additional book quests, which require further collects, with more hailing and text to get the new tasks.

I did the scraps collection task and got the book and unlocked the other tasks for books. After reading what I had to do, dropped them all but the Ragepaw one. I am almost done with the first step of it, hopefully I can get it done soon. Them Ragepaws are hard for even a necro to solo.
