I'm confused

I am looking to make the spell Holy Light using the new spell research recipe. The recipe calls for vial of pure water. The subcombine for vial of pure water is: water flask (4)and empty vial (5) however the recipe for empty vial is vial of pure water (3) and dirty empty vial. How can that be correct? That would require me to make vials of pure water to make vials of pure water........could someone please help?

EDIT: Nevermind on this question. Apparently it is only this way on the printer friendly version.

well yes that is the recipe for an empty vial.
But you can also purchase empty vials from NPC's in unlimited quantity... cheaper than you can make them.

The "cleaning" was just a "completion" thing or for people that did not want to hit a vendor again.

Parchment cleanser combines return dirty vials... you can clean them again though I can't think of a good reason why you would want to do MORE subcombines.

Empty vials cost like a silver.

Came in handy once while i was raiding and Tradeskilling (yes i know, im horrible) .... ran out of vials so was forced to Clean my dirty ones
