I would have expected number 2 to have been correct.

I know people want the LDoN... but didn't they only mention PoP and GoD in the patch notes?

/agree that is my understanding as well only PoP and GoD atm, hopefully if people like this type of research they might find away to make them for those LDoN spells as well

Indeed they did, I just wanted to make sure:
" The new spell research is a totally different system that covers a large majority of spells that were found in Planes of Power, and Gates of Discord, though not all of them. The new system may seem more complex than the way you are used to doing spells, but is much more systematic than the previous system and will be more consistent."

It's too bad too, since the ldon spells are harder to get than pop or god spells imho...

Here's the offending text that gave me hope (they were uttered previously but I can't find a link):

            Halfling Hodgepodge Extreme

            Q:
In the past, spells from older expansions appeared on vendors INSIDE the new expansion because fewer and fewer people went to those old locations. An example would be spells sold in the Abysmal Sea, can we please have this happen for Lost Dungeons of Norrath and Planes of Power spells in Depths of Darkhollow and Gates of Discord in the next expansion at the latest?
            A:
There will be a host of new Research based recipes in Depths of Darkhollow which will allow players to research spells from Planes of Power and a spell or two from other, newer expansions. The expansion will also have areas where you can obtain the spells originally include with omens of war.

            ----------------------------------------------
Spell research for PoP and 'other', and runes for OOW.

As long as the LDoN spells are levels 61-65, go ahead and knock yourself out trying recipe combinations, but I still have my doubt that LDoN spells were included.

No offense intended, but I hope they don't make LDoN spells researchable. I spent a significant chunk of playtime forming groups and cajoling friends into going into Everfrost with me just to get Horror. People would say, "Oh no, she's on!" when I logged on because they knew I'd pester them.

Not to mention that there are a few augments that 650 points could buy that I might have opted for instead had the spell been researchable.

I know folks will say I shouldn't be concerned with how somebody else got the spell, and it shouldn't bother me if somebody has an easier time than did I (after all, I did get the spell), but bother me it would.

THe problem is, when you were doing LDoN, so were others. Now, with so many newer expansions out, few people do LDoN content, and for newer players reaching the point where they can use these spells, they have no viable means of putting groups together to get them.

A Dev on the SoE boards said "LDoN is going to be looked into", once the DoD issues get resolved anyway. It's a very big concern right now when (A) people don't go there and (B) many people have class spells that can ONLY be found there.

For example, magician have a PBAoE from LDoN that is the highest level one we get. We don't have an upgrade anywhere else, that's it. The chest spells (examine, disarm, open) that get used in one of the MPG trials are also only found there. I have a summoned item spell from LDoN that I use everyday (ammo slot with see-invis/ultravision) that isn't replacable either.

More points at lower levels. Maybe boost the xp. Remove the 5 seperate camps/points to spend issue and make your spending cap whatever is your best single camp number.

Whatever it takes, but it needs to be a viable expansion again if you have all these spells that can only be found there.

After the summit in approx June 2004, they said they were going to be looking at LDoN again. They hinted at adding elemental level armor to the vendors there. So I figured I'd keep chunking away at them whenever I couldn't find a raid going on. After a couple months of see what SOE had added/modified with the LDoNs, I decided my time would be better spent sitting the the bazaar trying to sell various pieces of junk I'd collected along the way. Now looking back over the fifteen months they've spent looking at LDoNs, I wish I'd made that discission earlier.

I think the spells from LDoN should be made available via some other method other than trying to send people through those useless missions.

Not really. I finished the points I needed for Horror about a month ago. I'm unguilded, so I couldn't even rely on guildmates for the help. All friends and sympathetic pickup players. It can be done if you're persistant.

Problem is, the DoN vendors have the roughly Elemental level gear, after augging. The stuff lacks the effects (EB, Ultravision, ATK, FT, etc) but otherwise has stats on par with EP armor.

I'm not going to suggest making LDoN spells researchable. I feel they need to do three things to LDoN. First, consolidate the points. No more having 5 different camps with 5 different Favor totals, have one Favor total that applies to all 5 camps. (Someone suggested something similar, but the wording was different and would have led to someone doing two LDoN's in two different camps having half the buying power than someone who does two at the same camp). Secondly, and this is virtually a requirement for the next item, is make a 70 hard LDoN (I don't think they've done this yet). Third, make it so that you don't gain points based on the level of the LDoN, make the points you gain equal to your character level, and multiply by 1.5 for a hard mission. A level 20 doing a normal then gets 20 points, doing a hard would get 30 points. A level 70 would get 70 points, or 105 if they do hard (where they get now for doing a 65 hard). This might even have the effect of getting people to actually use their shrouds, to get an easier mission.
