  • Ways to skill up past 202

up to skill level 202 it is relativly cheap to buy the stuff you need from bazar (may depend on server) but after that it gets pretty hard.
I am looking for any recipe with "easy to get" materials who is useable for 202+ skill ups.
The prefered is the priest recipes since those is useable for all, but also class specific methods would be good.
I am a mage my self and so far it seems i have to pay like 1k+ pp for each word i need from bazar and dont really have any idea on where to get them.
What i am looking for is ways to get to 227 and most important places where those research items drop a plenty.

after submitting posts complaining about the skillup path that have produced two closed threads..(is it a record)?...I am giving up and just gonna sell my 'remove greater curse' spells...the profits will cover the failed combines so I will have no reason to worry about 'skilling up' to 227.

Must be what SOE wants anyway...ah the marvel of tradeskills!

      Hello Cyrint,

You didn't mention your level or level of equipment, so I will just mention that
I have found the Plane of Mischief to be quite good at dropping Spell Research components (very very good actually).

If you have an account with Allakhazam that may help you in tracking down what mob drops what Spell Research component. I do believe on the shaman boards (non eq-live) they compiled a list of mobs that dropped their spell research items, beyond that I am not aware of any other "mob lists" myself.

Heroic bond seems to be a decent skill up way, at lest i have managed to farm around 13 combines for that in a few months.

Zabu, actually I AM on quellious lol. You want my RGC?

And Cyrint -- shhhhhhh -- if you want, send me a private message and we can share skill up paths -- I have a couple of other ideas. I am sad to say that I am afriad that posting some of the ideas here will only increase the price of components in the bazaar beyond their already rediculous levels.

If you can't beat 'em -- join 'em!

The 'quick trivial list' on this site gives a pretty good list of which spells have a high trivial. The only spell it leaves out is Aegolism, for which the trivial isn't known, but you'd need a Toharon's page 22 to try that.

I made myself a list of what components were needed for each of those spells, so I could search the bazaar. I also give priority to the 207 trivials, saving other components for after I'm at 207. Plus I try to keep track of what each spell sells for so I won't spend way too much for the components.

After a few weeks, it became clear that there's no good shortcuts. There's always some catch with one component being rare or expensive (or nonexistent). There are some gotchas though, where you can waste a rare component on a vendor-purchasable spell instead of making something good.

The likeliest candidates so far include Acumen of Dar Khura, Ethereal Elixir, Heroic Bond, Reckoning, Talisman of the Brute, Word of Vigor, Augment, and Dictate... but there's so much randomness in component drops that you can't effectively concentrate on just a few recipes.

My advice is to look at your research skill as a commodity and focus on using it to generate plat. Most of your more profitable spells will have high trivials, so the skill ups will come, but not at the rate of typical skills that have well defined skill paths.

I'm currently at 208 research and other than the occasional combine for a leveling necro or guildie every post-200 combine has netted me significant profit. I would estimate I've made around 2 million plat in the course of gaining those 8 skill points. If I had reinvested this money into buying more research components purely for skill raising I would likely be at 227 by now, so that is an idea for you. Farm RGC, DI, WoR, Pox of Bertox, etc - whatever sells well on your server - and dump that money back into the overpriced baz components.
