    few days ago i saw a guy wearing title "expert researcher"
    how the hell did he get research so high???
    shouldnt he be heaving 250+ in research to get it?

    as he was afk, i didnt get any response from him

    It's possible to have gotten expert prior to the changes to research.

    Between 65 and 70 they would have earned 20 skill points for their GM.

    If they had made 227 via a combination of GM bribing and skilling then they would only have required a further 3 points left over from prior to 65 to make 250 and the expert title. Perfectly possible until recently. Now completely impossible of course.

      Hmmm, I don't think so. There was a cap of 200 on research until they removed the guildmasters and the cap. Didn't those happen at teh same time? I am on test server, so our patches don't match live ones, but seems ot me that it all happened at once.

        Apprentice = 0-99
        Journeyman = 100 - 199
        Expert = 200 - 299
        MAster = 300

        Until I dinged 300 in Baking, I was an Expert Chef, now I am a Master Chef.

          Different thing Maevenniia - you're talking about the skill titles on the skills page of the UI. That does indeed change to Expert at 200. However Braeladin is talking about the title above someones head. That won't change to expert until you gain the title at 250. The rules for overhead titles are Apprentice at 100, Journeyman at 200, Expert at 250 and Master at 300. (know this because I'm currently a journeyman in smithing and tailoring according to the UI but don't have the journeyman titles to display above my head)

          Trellium, I could have sworn there was a gap between the raise to 300 and the GM's no longer permitting the purchase of skillpoints in Research. I can't think of any other legal way for someone to have achieved the title of Expert. If there was a gap and I'll grant you I'm a bit hazy and it couldn't have lasted long, then it was possible to reach 250.

            Hmm, I have 203 Research, I'll check on my available titles tonight, since as far as I knew what I posted is what applies for the overhead titles as well.

              When DoN went Live, there was about 30 minutes where you could train Poison & Research on GM's as before DoN. The result of this (once detected) was to disable those skills from being trained on GMs until it could be fixed. Hence the duration where ppl could not even train research to learn the basics of the skill.

              Since all research recipes currently cap at 227 (at least until they possibly add recipes for PoP and/or Luclin Ancient spells), the person you saw with Expert Researcher title was most likely one of the lucky few who still had practice points to spend and managed to catch the GM trainer immediately when DoN went live.

              A similar, but different, occurence was when the mass imbue spells were added to vendors and the clerics that bought and scribed them all within that first 20 minutes or so, were able to learn the spells and then imbue any cultural gem since the mass imbue spells went live w/o any coding to check deity of person scribing.

                That would explain why we didn't have this issue on Test server; we didn't get the DoN expansion until 2 or 3 days after production servers got it.
