  • Plssss I Need Your Help

I have a 16 necromancer and i just received a message that i can now do spell research. (sweeeeeet)

so i then began to ask people in pok to help me ad they all shugged me off (undrstandibly)

so, i decided to ask here since this is a tradeskill board.

(now i finaly get to the point) can somebody explain how to do spell research, who to talk to , and where to start
I knew i shouldnt have lit that match....

Did you read the FAQ? It's one of the stickies at the top of the forum.

Wait till level 20 to train 1 point into research, then look up spell recipes in the EQTC database fro pre-LoY spells (level 16-49 spells), make a list of the components you will need, and start saving them. When you have a few saved up, start combining them in your book 4to get skill ups.

Keep in mind at level 20 you can skill up to skill level 25 only, and will be able to skill up another 5 points every time you level, as spell research is capped (formula is in the FAQ.)

here is a necro research guide I found with google: http://necrorealm.gotdns.com/research.asp

In addition to what Maevenniia said, it would be a good idea to focus on the spells that are listed as research-only (you can find those at caster's realm or allakhazam). That way, you can sell the ones you don't need and hopefully make a profit.

Lvl 20 spell Harmshield is a GREAT one... I used that to help fund my research for quite a few levels.

        Learn about vendordiving.

*Most* people sell words and runes and other tradeskill items to vendors.

All you have to do is get 110+ CHA (buy 2 of those +25CHA much for cheap in the bazaar), have some plat on you and go around to vendors with your lsit of what you are looking to buy, and scroll thru their inventory.

The low end research items will be 1p or less usually, the higher end research will be about 7p or less each item.

Dont forget, your skill is capped by your level. Dont go trying combines that trivial really high at a low level, as youll be wasting money.

You can still get good deals with a 110+ CHA, but 135+ will get you their best possible price.

True... Concerning my note about the lvl 20 spell Harmshield - it won't trivial until about lvl 25, assuming you max out your Research every level. (It's a good thing to learn from the beginning that trivials will almost always lag behind when you can actually use the spell.)

You might also want to look at practice research and hunt in Lavastorm for the required gems. This won't get you very many gems, but you'll also get cash and xp.

Actually, it's 125 for "best price" with worst vendorable con. Lower CHA can be done if your faction with the vendor is happier, but 125 is the breakpoint to make sure you get the best price from every single vendor that will sell to you (apprehensive and above, if my foggy memory serves).

You can also train in research with your GM trainer to 200 and it actually is cheaper and easier to go this route if you have the training points available, especially in the higher end of research

Aye, training research to 200 would cost you about 5k and a whole bunch of training points. You can/should research to 150 or so relatively easy and just do the harder 150+ skill gains at the trainer.
Then again at your level that is probably not an option unless you have a rich sugardaddy / main to sponsor you..
I've found that 104 Charisma is the breakpoint for best price if you con indifferent to the vendor.

Trainers are affected by CHA as well, with no noticable cap (i.e. above 110 with Ally it still gets cheaper by small amounts). Cost is about 3.5K with a very high CHA from zero.
