  • Rare Spells and Components in demand?

I have read all the threads about what words/runes/pages are rare but the threads are pretty old. Below is my consolidation of all the previous thread information.

Is it still current or are there things to add or delete? And most of all, the big question, what are the current top 10 spells currently in high demand or sell well made with these 'rare' components? I sure don't want to use words of tenancy to make a spell that sells for 2k when there is another that sells for 10k.

    Yaeth's 26 L
    Yaeth's 26 R
    Yaeth's 50 L
    Yaeth's 63 R
    Yaeth's 72 L
    Yaeth's 73 R
    Yaeth's 78 R
    Yaeth's 80 L
    Yaeth's 94 L
    Yaeth's 107 L
    Yaeth's 118 R
    Yaeth's 83
    Yaeth's 108
    Yaeth's 115

    Rune of Coruscating
    Rune Of Scintillation
    Rune Of Zephyr

    Words of Agony
    Words Of Aptitude
    Words of Awareness
    Words of Exhilaration
    Words Of Intent
    Words Of Potence
    Words of Tenancy
    Words Of Torment
    Words of Potence
    Words of Retention

    Scales of Veeshan
    Writ of Quellious
    Runed emblem

    Toharon 18 L
    Toharon 19
    Toharon 22

I'm not sure your list captures the effect of the cultural tailoring robes. The 36 spell components (6 for each of 6 races) are in extra demand. As an Erudite, I always look for the 6 bits that make robes for me. I would think that the 6 top components in particular would be in special demand - if they are turned into a robe, they can't become a spell!

Not sure about the other top components (Words of Capacity, Yaeth 25r, Words of Virtue, Words of Misery, Words of Abrogation) but the top Erudite one Rune of Tempest is in great demand on my server.

I'm going to speak as one Wizard who makes some decent amounts of money by buying research components in the bazaar and selling completed spells.

This depends heavily on what you amount of profit you consider worth your while. Personally, I find this market very limited. The vast majority of Kunark era spells are not worth researching. Invariably someone will undercut your possible profit margin with a spell they got as a junk drop. These spells are far too common to reliably make money on. ALL velious spells fall under this category as well. 95% of Luclin spells also meet this qualification.

Here are the few spells I can make money consistently on and how much I buy compenents for and how much I sell the spells for.

      Levitation (1200pp)
      Everlasting Breath (2000pp)
      Acumen of Dar'Khura (1000pp)

These 3 spells are Luclin era and are each only dropped by a single mob in all of Norrath. I don't know why the designers decided to make this so, but they did and it does enable profit to be made. The rate at which these enter the market via drops is essentially 0. Virtually all copies in existence are researched.

These 3 spells are LORE. So be warned... do not attempt to research it if you already have one in your inventory... you will get a duplicate lore message and your components will be eaten.

Rare components for these 3 are respectively

Yaeth's 70 left for Levitation (though being a wizard I can research this spell using the Rune of Current + Rune of Conglomeration recipe... these components are both very common so I can keep this spell stocked 24/7 and typically only pay 100-200pp each for the 2 runes)

Yaeth's 50L (this is pretty rare... I will pay up to 500pp for it but decline to buy from people selling it for 2k... no profit in that)

Acumen of Dar'Khura has no real rare components... I can keep this one stocked 24/7 also and again pay only 100-200pp each for components.

Next up we have 2 other Luclin spells with profit possibilities.

Garrison's Superior Sundering. This spell is astoundingly rare as it only drops off of Emperor Ssraezsha. Its rare component is Rune of Scintillation which is also exceedingly rare. There is a very limited market for this spell in any case because the spell is made completely obsolete by Strike of Solusek which is readily available on my server. I hardly ever bother to make this even when I do see a Rune of Scintillation for sale unless its particularly cheap. This spell takes a long time to sell at 8k and the rare Scintillation typically sells for 4k+.

Greater Remove Curse. This spell used to sell for outrageous prices as it is highly needed for high end Luclin raiding and has no PoP upgrade. However, its rare component Yaeth's 73 right is so rare that I have never seen one for sale. Also the fact that you can now buy this spell with LDoN points makes its price much lower. Especially since the scroll from LDoN is the same tradeable scroll dropped by the Rhag's in Ssra. So you occasionally have people who can't even use it buy it with LDoN points and then sell it on the open market. I don't know how much I would pay for 73R because as I've said I've never seen it for sale. I probably wouldn't buy it all unless it was under 10k.

Finally there are a few Kunark era spells still with some profit available.

      Malo
      Word of Redemption

These both sell for around 8k and both take the same rare component Yaeth's 108. I typically find it easier to sell Word of Redemption as it has no comparitive spell in later era's (its a group complete heal in case you don't know... it has some significant advantages over regular complete heal in very high end raiding which I will not get into but suffice to say that people want it) so I rarely make Malo. Malo's price has dropped a lot with wide availability of the superior 65 PoP spell Malos for low prices.

      Last but not least

Divine Intervention. This spell is virtually required for high end raiding of all types. It seems to be much rarer than other 60 Kunark spells. It used to be fairly common in Veeshan's Peak but nobody was keyed for that or did it much until the revamp and now of course it no longer drops there. The rare component for this is Toharon's pg. 22. I have only ever seen this for sale once for 2k but I am confident that the seller had no idea of its value... I would have easily paid 10 times that much. I sold the finished product for 105k. That was 6 months ago... I do not know if this price is still representative.

There is room for small profit margins on some other spells but I find it not worth my while. Considering a small profit margin and a high risk of being undercut by someone who got the same spell as a drop and has no money invested in it I just don't bother. Your mileage may vary.

So in summary, here are the only research components that I ever bother to search for.

      Rune of Current
      Rune of Conglomeration
      Rune of Alternation
      Words of Capacity
      Words of Intent

These are common enough that I can pick and choose the prices at which I buy them and stock up when I find a good price for later production.

These I buy as soon as I see them if the price is reasonable (profitable).

      Yaeth's 50 left
Yaeth's 73 right (if I ever actually saw one)
      Yaeth's 108
      Toharon's 22

As for cultural tailoring here is my experience as a high elf.

I don't produce any high elf robes for profit... the 6th one as reagent conservation 3 on it which is not particularly desireable. I used cultural robes extensively for skilling up from 187 to my current skill of 235.

Robes using Runes of Sorcery trivial at 212
      Robes using Nilitim's 115 trivial at 222
Robes using Tears of Prexus trivial at 232

I found all the components I needed for going from 187-232 on merchants for way cheaper than anyone would sell them for in the bazaar. This took some time but I was patient. I don't know if there is a significant enough market for these in bazaar to bother with. Not too many people seem to do robes as a skill up path. Most seem to prefer the Ceremonial Solstice Robe route.

Robes using Keris' 5 right trivial at 242
Robes using Runes of Impulse trivial at 252

I am stuck at this point. These components are just too rare to make for a viable skillup path. Rune of Impulse typically sells for 500pp. The components for Arctic Wyvern Hide and Acrylia Reinforced are cheaper than that even if you buy everything in the bazaar. I got to 235 but am now seeking alternative routes to skillup.

Robes using Words of Virtue trivial at 262. I only ever do these when I find Words of Virtue on a merchant and they are the only high elf cultural robe that I can sell in any reasonable amount of time. I turned in all my other robes for tribute (and accumulated 160k of it in the process). The robes do sell but not very well(less than 1500pp) and it is rare to see Words of Virtue for less than 1k in bazaar. I do not know who (if anyone) is buying them at that price. It is not worth my while to make those for profit and its far to expensive to do them for skillup.

OK I realize that was extensively long winded, but I hope it helps.

I don't know if rune of zephyr is in demand. However I never, ever see it up for sale in bazaar on Fennin Ro. I'd buy it just to finish EER.

Thats because no reliable witness has seen a Rune of Zephyr on any live server. It's not even in lucy's database.

Either there's a wide conspiracy to cover it up, or it simply does not drop at all.
