I am not against the idea of a research trophy. But I am against the idea of a research trophy like the rest of the trophies. The best thing for it in my eyes is something with lesser stats, that instead of summoning a bag summons something even better. A quill and parchment so that one doesn't have to run around trying to find the vendors or carry stacks on them. It would remove a huge pita from research without making it overpowered for the 200 clicks it takes to max research.

isn't the gm trophy for alchemy and poison making different than the "normal" ones? just mke this one special too. +10 int/wis, +5% research, what else....
the alchemy one gives no int but an extra 5 wis and the rouge one gives extra 10 dex. they aren't very good at showing what a lesser trophy woul be. also they both have the bags which is what many are arguing about.

Heh, tailoring and smithing are EASY compared to tinkering.
"Only smithing and tailoring." Hee hee.
LOL, I had 151 days played and was 59 when I 250'd Tailoring. Gotta love Cobalt Scar =/.
My level 17 Tink alt has a whopping 3 1/2 days played and is 250.
But she was well funded from an 'easier' tradeskill. =D
Tinkering = Fletching as far as difficulty to skill up on now, just takes plat.

Speaking as a person who skilled up to ~190 in Spell Research the hard way (mostly before Loy, the last 10 points or so was from LoY-era combines) and only then used 10 training points to get to 200, I don't want a 'lesser' trophy. And any Mages who also skilled up before LoY without training points had even more work than I did.
You can buy poison making all the way to max skill too you know, and they get a 'normal' trophy.
However, I suggested a trophy that summons your classes' advanced research container instead of a bag....for that, I'd settle for lower statsMaster Artisan Maevenniia the Springy Sprocket Stockpiler of the really long name

ANYTHING can be bought with plat.
Realistically, though, most cannot.
Perhaps your server is the wonderful Tinkering Nirvana we gnomes sometimes fantasize about, but Vazaelle surely doesn't have things used to get to 250 obtainable with mere platinum in the Bazaar, not by any stretch of the imagination.Last edited by Whizbang_Dustyboots; 10-25-2003, 12:56 PM.

The only thing that differentiates this from Poison Making is the 200 cap vs. the 250 cap. Heck, the PM one can even be upgraded to summon different containers, not to mention its snazzy particle effect.
I wouldn't get in a huff about it being trainable to cap. The low cap *might* give the lesser-trophy-argument some merit, but not enough to worry about. It's only more mouse clicks.

I skilled up in the early days of Kunark, and bought the last 13 points to 200 (one of the first BTW, had to make a screenshot as people didn't believe 200 was even possible in research). Those 187 points I skilled up on took forever...why should I get a lesser trophy for it?
But like someone said, heck if it summoned a ream of parchment and quills, I'd be happy as heck. But I already have a few trophies.Ozmandias Prime - Usually Lost Shortie Healer

The STA is a bit overboard, to be honest.
Yep, the poison trophy is different from the others. It also has +10DEX, which is a nice little addition (and makes sense, honestly). It is "odd" that we get a trophy for something we can train at at our guild. I have bought my last several points there, to get to 235. I honestly just ran out of things to train in. My last two levels, though, I passed up poison training to help with my Throwing (now at 200, tyvm) :P I figured that poison making is nearly trivial, anyhow (storebought method to 250 that is relatively cost-effective). I had never really thought about how training to 250 (ish) in poison making and then getting a (better than the other) trophy was slightly unfair. Perhaps it is. *shrug*
At any rate, I don't mind letting the researchers have a trophy, but lose the STA.

lose 10 sta but then at 65 my wizard might lose a whole 30 hp. at lv 41 now that might cost me 20 hp on my otherwise 900ish hp pool. cant train it all teh way up atm anyway though. i can live with that.
