Erudin Newbie armor quest question

I have completed every piece of newbie armor except the Craftkeeper Robe. My only problem now is finding a Giant Rat Tooth. I wouldn't want to assume VI was perfect in the inception of this quest but I have killed Giant Rats, Giant Field Rats, Palgue rats etc... No tooth drop in 4 hours of play a day for 2 weeks. Any help from anyone who has completed this quest would be MUCH appreciated. Some of the harder to find stuff i'll list below to maybe help someone who is just starting this quest.

Woven spider silks: I got these off spiders in East Commons. Got 20 in less than 15 min. Then I thought to look on the merchants and I could have just bought all 20:/

Skunk tails are dropped off skunks in Butcherblock Mts. I grabbed mine off a merchant in BB.

Giant Woodspider Thorax: Got this off the yellow spiders in Steamfront. This is a Nodrop item.

Spider Venom: This is made by rogues. It is trivial at poison making 20. This is also one of 5 quest rewards givin for the bug collection quest in Runnyeye.

Kobald Skull: I got this out of the Warrens. It droped off of a Kobald. This is a nodrop item.

Just popped over to Allakhazam's, and there's no listing there for the tooth, but on the chatter beneath the quest, folks are suggesting the Rats in the Warrens may have the elusive tooth you need. No confirmations yet, though ...

Actually, anyone can make the Spider Venom and oddly enough, with my Erudite Cleric, I got a trivial message when making the combine but I failed as much if not more than succeeded at making it.

So far there seem to be 2 items that are blocking the completion of the new Erudite quest armor. The Giant Rat Tooth(Caster Robe) and the Kobold Head(Cleric and Paladin Greaves).

I am going to try for that tooth today I think.

Kobold Head has been hunted by many via various clearings of The Warrens and one has yet to be found. I firmly believe this item was missed altogether along with all the items that should have been added to the Odus drop table and weren't.

As I wrote above I have CONFIRMED the skull drop in the warrens. As for the tooth I went to the rat room and killed rat after rat after rat after rat after rat..etc..and no tooth drop at all. I also tried the river rats on the way to this room and nothing there either. It just amazes me how easy the Froggie shaman armor was compared to this.

I have given up on this quest for the time being. I've killed every imaginable rat. I have killed literally hundreds of packrats in the Paneel newbie zone because someone posted they got a giant rat tooth there. (Either they were mistaken, told a cruel lie or have the only completed robe in the game.)

I talked to or saw a post from someone who said a GM had confirmed that there was a giant rat tooth and the quest was working. Then I talked to someone who said a GM had confirmed to her that the quest is broken and that they are "working on it."

So...I'll check here from time to time and hope someone will post if it becomes possible to complete this quest. Otherwise, my L11 Erudite wizard is in premature retirement.

No dear. I didn't say skull I said head. I know full well the skull drops. I have acquired the skull and completed those parts of the newbie armor for both my Cleric and my Enchanter BUT the Cleric Greaves and Paladin Greaves both call for a Kobold Head and there is just no source for that. I was addressing ALL Erudite newbie armor quests not just the Casters. Maybe I wasn't quite clear on that point.

And I did the same as well. I stood in that rat room and killed an innumerable amount of rats, and although I made a small fortune from all the rat eyes and plague tails that dropped never once did I get a Giant Rat Tooth. I had HOPED that "a frenzied rat" that seemed to be an uncommon spawn in the rat room would drop it seeing he was a harder and larger rat than the others. Unfortunately he never did and even worse he never dropped a tooth at all! I kept telling myself I will stay here until that bloody frenzied at least drops a tooth so I can confirm the giant one doesn't drop off him...... That never happened and I couldn't wait anymore.

I would have LOVED to test the pack rat/Paineel theory but Paineel newbie area on EMarr is bugged and all of the mobs that weren't skeletons were under the world. I really hate that. : /

do you happen to recall what sort of kobold dropped this? i had my ranger in there for a while last night, and never saw one.

Purely random unfortunately. I have an Erudite for each type of armor quest so had to get 2 skulls total (one for enchie other for Cleric). I got my Clerics skull off a mob near the entrance. I got my Enchies skull off a mob while heading toward the rat room.

thanks anyway. and, since it's no drop, guess my 'chanter will do without shoes for a while. now if someone can actually find the mythical Giant Rat Tooth...

This is my guess about the trivial message: the "trivial" message appears because clerics do not have the Make Poison skill, but VI has implemented this as a cap of 0 on the skill in order to allow nonRogues to make low skill items like Spider Venom. (The actual trivial for this poison is 20, which means, if Make Poison works like other tradeskills, that with a skill of 0 your success rate should be about 44%.) The reason for the message would then be not because the combine was "trivial", but because you had hit your skill cap. (I got the same message with my Enchanter.)

OK I'm STILL smacking rats and am still finding nothing. his is the only piece I am lacking now:/

After patch, I am on the TEST server mind you, but Giant Rat Tooth is dropping from the infected rats in Tox Forest and it is droppable.

They have also upped the spider population and added wood spiders into the mix as well. All of these are dropping Wood Spider parts.

Skunks seem to be dropping other parts besides glands, have gotten an eye so far.

Snakes, Giants and Larges and the odd regular Briar are dropping the Snake Bile.

Kobolds at the camps in Tox are dropping Crude Bronze ore and I don't believe they did previously as well as skulls and heads.

Once again, I am on the TEST server so it is possible that the same instances are not true on LIVE servers.

EDIT: Nope. Just checked live servers and none of this has been implimented yet. /sigh

Is the Magician and Wizard armor missing from the game, or is the Craftkeeper's (Erudite Enchanter guild) armor usable by magicians and wizards as well as enchanters?
