  • Time for shawl 8?

Does anybody know the approximate time it takes to do the 8th shawl walk, once the pastie little dorf starts trudging thru the snow? Assuming he doesn't get stuck?

When I did my Escort, with about 12ish+ people, took about 45 mins to 1 hour.

Yeah, if he don't get stuck, you looking at about an hour of fun.

My 8th shawl walk was an overkill, battles were short, and even with general getting stuck twice we did it in about an hour.

Great, thanks guys. Thats exactly what I was looking for. Think 2 groups average lvl 60 can handle it?

I did another walk 2 days ago. Seems like they fixed the pathing. The general didn't get stuck once. Was pretty quick once it started, about 45 minutes. The longest part was waiting for people to get there.

              Slightly off topic

Not to hijack the thread, but is there a reasonable chance for success with the walk with only 62 chanter w/DC (90AA), 61 chanter w/DC (30AA), 62 Cleric, and 65 bard?

I know the wolves can all be mezzed so those fights would be easy. The giants can't be mezzed or charmed so the bard would have to kite them til the 2 DC pets were ready for the next one. Seem reasonable?

The wolves cannot be mezzed either, sorry - even with people >60, I still wouldn't want to do it with less than 2 groups -- too much on the the line to risk a failure due to that.

Unless you enjoy making that NO DROP armor

Really? I've could have sworn that I've done it before... I've done the walk a couple of times for guildies about a year ago then took about an 8 month break so things could have changed. We had like 3 groups back then and most were 60 (don't think PoP was out yet). Seemed like tons of overkill at the time.

Not all the giants/wolves are mezzable/unmezzable. But there are enough unmezzables unsnarables that you need tanks/healer. Personally, I don't think its worth it to take the chance of screwing it up and have to remake the full suit again.

hehe .. I did my shawl 8 last week, and we had 4 full groups -- very much overkill, but as our guild says, overkill > not enough people.

Minimum I wood say two groups of high level 60+ people could do it. Personally, I would never take less than 3 full groups ( I have done the walk multiple times and never with less than 20 people). I look at it this way The more the merrier and less chance if something goes wrong and you having to go back and recreate all that armor again. While the walk was easy with that many people, the 8th walk is not something I want to be a challange.

The nice thing about having extra people is you can have people who do nothing but clear out the wanders ahead of time makes things lots less confusing and easier to deal with the real baddies. Getting people to help should not be very difficult. At the worst you can offer a large guild the Dain in exchange for their aid in doing the walk.

Can do this encoutner with 1 group of 65's.
proabably less depending on equipment and skills and whether they have done walk before.

Not really. Too many mobs and adds. Not impossible mind you, but not likely.
