  • Erudite Paladin Newbie Armour Quest

I know Erudite Paladins aren't exactly the most common folk around, but here's hoping this'll help someone. I haven't completed any pieces yet, but hopefully I'll have some up later today.

To begin the quest, speak with Kordian Keshalin, a male Erudite on the second floor of the Temple of Prexus, right at the top of the stairs.

    You say, 'Hail, Kordian Keshalian'
Kordian Keshalian says 'Good day Seerys, is there something I can help you with? I am currently training young paladins the way of our house so if you are a [paladin] perhaps we can start you off on the right path.'

You say, 'I am a paladin'
Kordian Keshalian says 'Fantastic to hear young one. There are many that pass through these halls with the willingness to learn the ways of the Sentinel, but few that complete their training. If you feel you can handle it and are [interested in creating your own armor] simply say so.'

You say, 'I am interested in creating my own armor.'
Kordian Keshalian says 'All right then Seerys, lets see what you got. When you are ready to begin I will send you into the field to collect [various items]. '

    You say, 'What various items?'
Kordian Keshalian says 'There are numerous items that you will need to collect and combine in your kit. I will present you with the recipe for Sentinel [Helms], [Bracers], [Armguards], [Boots], [Greaves], [Gauntlets] and [Breastplates]. When you are ready to attempt a specific piece please let me know what piece you wish to [craft] and I will give you the necessary mold along with the recipe.'

You say, 'I wish to craft helm.'
Kordian Keshalian says 'To create your helm material you will need to combine 2 Bricks of Crude Bronze, 1 Fire Beetle Leg, 1 Spider Silk and 1 Short Ale in your assembly kit. Once you have created the proper material take it to a forge along with this mold to fashion your very own Sentinel's Helm.'

You say, 'I wish to craft bracers.'
Kordian Keshalian says 'To create your bracer material you will need to combine 1 Brick of Crude Bronze, 2 Rat Whiskers, 1 Snake Scales and 1 Ration in your assembly kit. Once you have created the proper material take it to a forge along with this mold to fashion your very own Sentinel's Bracer.'

You say, 'I wish to craft armguards.'
Kordian Keshalian says 'To create your armguard material you will need to combine 2 Bricks of Crude Bronze, 1 Snake Fang, 1 Bone Chip and 1 Mead in your assembly kit. Once you have created the proper material take it to a forge along with this mold to fashion your very own Sentinel's Armguards.'

You say, 'I wish to craft boots.'
Kordian Keshalian says 'To create your boot material you will need to combine 3 Bricks of Crude Bronze, 1 Rat Ear, 1 Fresh Fish and 1 Bandage in your assembly kit. Once you have created the proper material take it to a forge along with this mold to fashion your very own Sentinel's Boots.'

You say, 'I wish to craft greaves.'
Kordian Keshalian says 'To create your greaves material you will need to combine 4 Bricks of Crude Bronze, 2 Fire Beetle Legs, 1 Kobold Head and 1 Bottle in your assembly kit. Once you have created the proper material take it to a forge along with this mold to fashion your very own Sentinel's Greaves.'

You say, 'I wish to craft gauntlets.'
Kordian Keshalian says 'To create your gauntlets material you will need to combine 3 Bricks of Crude Bronze, 1 Skunk Tail, 1 Snake Venom Sac and 2 Bat Wings in your assembly kit. Once you have created the proper material take it to a forge along with this mold to fashion your very own Sentinel's Gauntlets.'

You say, 'I wish to craft a breastplate'
Kordian Keshalian says 'To create your breastplate material you will need to combine 5 Bricks of Crude Bronze, 1 Skunk Eye, 1 Large Briar Snake Skin, 1 Snake Fang, 1 Skeleton Tibia, and 1 Snake Bile in your assembly kit. Once you have created the proper material take it to a forge along with this mold to fashion your very own Sentinel's Breastplate. Return to me for one [final favor] I have to ask of you after you have completed your breastplate.'

    You say, 'What final favor?'
Kordian Keshalian says 'Well you see we have been having quite a problem with poachers benefiting off of our wildlife and I think as Paladins it is our duty to see that it does not continue. If you would like to help I will have you collect some [specific items] along with the head of a poacher.'

    You say, 'What specific items?'
Kordian Keshalian says 'Return to me with 1 Large Briar Snake Skin, 1 Giant Wood Spider Thorax, 1 Plague Rat Tail and 1 Poachers Head to claim your reward.'

Shopping/collecting list, including "final task" -
    20 bricks of crude bronze

Does the armor only come from the Temple of Prexus, or are there seperate versions for the Temple of Divine Light (Quellious)? Humans had different versions for each temple and I'm curious if the Erudites do the same.

I started this quest the day after the patch. I quickly got all of the pieces with my level 16 (dinged 16 during the quest) paladin...except for the greaves which require a kobold head. I have been looking for that final piece ever since. I even cheated last night and brought a level 51 character to drop all of the named kobolds and anything else that moved, just to satisfy my curiosity (the Warrens was empty of players). No head.

I should note, however, that I didn't find the needed skunk parts closeby. I bought them from a merchant in Butcherblock, as I recalled seeing them there in another character's life.

Here is the additional information I have. The armor is pure bright blue. Not light blue, but very bold. The helmet has that loop on the back that the evil cleric helm has.

As for your question, eumerin, I was very disappointed to not find a Quellious version of the quest. I don't think you have to raise faction with the Deepwater Knights to get the quests, though, like the Barnacle Breastplate quest required you to do. Still, all the good quests seem to go to Prexus. *sigh* SOE is testing the tranquil nature of Quellious followers, it would seem....

The armor is not named for anything Prexus, though. It is called Sentinel armor.

Thanks for the info on the lack of armor from the temple of Quellious. It appears that BOTH cleric and paladin armor were located in the Temple of Prexus. VI must hate us Peacekeepers.

The distinctive hoop at the back of the helmet is the standard plate look for Erudites. Due to it, I've heard such odd comments as, "You'll recognize the zone in to Umbral Plains because it looks like Eumerin's helmet."

That was a rough paraphrase of a comment over guild chat.

The male erudite helm is a hollowed-out kettle.

            It's true! :P

Gelcea Macha, Wandering Animist of Tarew Marr. Will be a smith, one day.

I was doing the quest for the Erudin caster's armor last night and I got the skunk tail and skunk eye from a skunk in Butcherblock. Just thought you might like to know.

                Hollowed out kettle....LOL!

I didn't realize the loop was the standard plate look. The only character I've seen it on has been a newbie armored Heretic cleric. I've only ever tried on leather, banded, and a turtleshell helm myself, so the loop was new to me.

We Erudite plate classes are a rare bunch, indeed.

Its distinctive, but so was the original look, and the original look is better, imo...

                  *grumble*

Well, better aside from the fact that the gloves and helm were bugged...

                    Stats?

Can anyone posts the stats for this armor?

If not I'll send my level 52 erudite paladin scouring the forests for this stuff.

No need to scour the realm...

According to the posts I've seen, there's been much ado about this newbie quest. I guess the latest patch is just what the Pally ordered.

The Erudite Paladin Armor quest (Armor of the Sentinel) is only in the main Pally guild, this threw me when I learned of the other newbie armor quests and couldn't find anything like it in the Quellious building. (by Palace 'port in upper Erudin)

Once I saw the post about talking to Kordian, I jumped on it. It seems that your specific diety is not important to this quest. Thank you, EQTC!

Just cleared my pally to lvl 7 last week and got the full set of Sentinel's Armor. (incl 2H sword) It appears as shades of dark indigo to lt blue... very cool. Almost looks like caster's robes, but actually reinforced armor. That's just how cool Erudites are. B)

Posted the above in another thread, and I promise to duplicate my follow-up here; with all stats and pieces of the set.

DON'T GO ALL OVER NORRATH LOOKING FOR THESE ITEMS ... you WILL find everything you need in Toxx forest; if not from mob drops, then from merchants (all but the NO DROP items) -- actually, you will need to venture for Bat Wings, but try merchants first, especially for "general supplies" drops.

Here's what I remember about the NO DROP items:

Kobold Skull (NOT Head): Kill anything that starts with "a Kobold"... making reasonably sure you can take them. Runts and Scouts are cake, but the Sentry and Watcher types will social aggro, and it's hard to see them coming with all the trees. Beware.

Giant Wood Spider Thorax: Best chance is to kill the namesake mob, but don't be fooled by their size. My pally would still con red to some of these at lvl 5. Large Widows would also drop these on occasion.

Poacher's Head: Three guesses where this comes from. They path towards the coast and into forest, both north and south Toxx, but few and far between. The best I found is to just hunt other mobs and watch for "Poacher (insert name here)" to KoS you within 10 yards. They appear like human druid/rogue.

Snake Bile: This is what got me killed the most. (Thank Quellious for "no penalties under 10" rule) Only one mob appears to drop this; Large Thistle Snakes. Unlike their smaller cousins, these are even tougher than Large Briar Snakes but only feeble poison. Still, consider carefully before engaging.

Hope these small bits help others to avoid what I had to endure!

EDIT: Skel Tibia and Kobold Head are not NO DROP... removed

nice look. i am an erudite wizard with nothing decent for boots. went to kill the kobolds for a skull. spent a lot of time (3 hrs.) in warrens and none dropped. other night killing spiderlings for silk and kobolds for fun one dropped. went and got all the quest stuff again to make the **** sandals. it does drop just really rare.

The skull may drop in the Warrens, but it certainly drops in Toxx and is no worse than uncommon there.
