  • Progressive Vah Shir Pottery Quest

Unnfortunately I found out you do lose your finely crafted runequill set on a failed combine. Can anyone help on how I trigger ayyad for a new set? do I give his seal back or start the quest over??

You have to go all the way back to the begining and hand him Grey Jars till you have four seals to give him. Be warned that both the unfired and fired grey jars are lore so don't burn supplies trying to make all four at once.

Once you get the first set of quills you can just trade them up without doing anymore of the intermediate steps since your skill is high enough. I recommend getting pottery up past 170 (if you haven't already) before doing it again. Failures are painful.

That bug is the reason so few players ever complete that quest. I've killed so many Xakra Larvas I could scream when I was doing it. The silks made for a nice nest egg though.

I'm currently in the middle of the figurines myself. I found that the bottleneck (for me) is hunting the Grimling Blood. I killed about 100 Grimlings in the forest and NONE and then did another 100 in Hollowshade Moore and again, ZERO. Finally, I head to Tenebrous Mountains and they seem to drop off about every third Grimling kill. The interesting thing is that the figurines are not No-Drop so the quest may be Multi-Questable.

Actually, the easiest place to get grimling blood is off the grimling runts in the Shar Vahl pit. Trouble is, they only seemed to spawn right after a patch when I was doing this quest (which was about eight months ago).

I thought it might be possible the runts are an opposite spawn to the skeletons that run around the pit but I never confirmed that.

I tried to confirm that theory myself figuring that the skellies might spawn in the "night" and the Runts in the "day" but I couldn't find anyone to give me the time planet-side. I eventually got board and went elsewhere.

I've spent many hours in the pit slaughtering everything in sight (getting three alts through the wolfbane quests was just loads if fun  ). The runts just won't pop anytime except right after a patch. There's about 12 hours after the zone is repopped when they will appear then they are gone untill the zone is repopped.

The figurines are droppable so if you know a very high skill potter who has done the quest you might be able to buy the figurines but with the painful farming and the risk of losing the quills they would likely want more than the container is worth. I had one in my range for the light effect till I got the Beginer's Magic Manual. I then sold it for 50pp in the bazaar and it was gone in under half an hour without advertising it.

I have tried to sell the 35% reduction container (Fine Xakra-Runed Jar)from the quest and did well with them at 100pp each but I just don't like to take up main inventory slots selling containers. I might look into it again now that it's easier to move stuff around.

I finally completed it last night. After doing all the sub-combines for 13 runed figurines (in case I failed a few) and NOT failing ANY of the sub-combines, I was worried about doing the final part. I managed to do all 13 without a failure so I now have 3 extras. I was considering tossing them or trying to make more to put on another character but now that you've mentioned selling them... that has merit as another possibility.
