  • Alright, so stacking will work? Or won't work?

I'm just using this as an EXAMPLE, so don't get pissy about it not being about tradeskill quests.

I attain 4 stacks of Gnoll fangs

I travel to the warrior guild in Qeynos and hand them to the Captain guy.

I hand him all four stacks of Gnoll fangs in one go, he

    a) Hands me back 76 of them and gives me 4 moonstones

    b) Hands me back all 80 of them

    c) Hands me back none of them, but gives me only 4 moonstones

    d) Hands me back none, but gives me 80 moonstones (it is possible, with a little rearranging)

    Please answer me. Thank you.

      Yup, C is correct.
It used to be that you could hand 4 of such an item to the NPC stacked and he'd accept it as 4, so you could turn up to 16 in at a time, but something changed awhile back that caused each slot to be considered one item, be it 1 or a whole stack of 20.

The cause of the change was a modification in how combines check for stacked items. So while it made tradeskilling easier, it made questing less stable and more 4 times as tedious for the repetative turn-ins like bone-chips.

Ah, interesting. I've been wondering why the mechanics had changed and what caused it. Bit of an annoyance though, for quests where you turn in stuff.
