  • Final turn in for Aid Grimel Quest

    Hello,

This may have been covered in the Aid Grimel thread, but reading through 600+ posts ..... challenging to say the least. So I'm sorry if I'm duping.

I MQ'd past the smithing part on 2 ear rings, I'm done except for final turn in of Hope Stone. I have heard rumors back and forth on this. Is there in fact a final skill check for all trade skills on the hope stone turn in? I'm at 188 Smithing atm and don't look forward to farming for 2-3 weeks in hollowshade. Thanks for any information you can provide.

BTW the walk through was invaluable. Thank you.

        OMG....

I am very sorry but i couldnt help laugh... after all this is a quest to test highlevel tradeskillers. And for the quest code to pick up that you MQed it and not let you finish is quite funny.

At least you only have to go to 220 in smithing!

Oh, and grats on getting that far in the quest, even if you sneaked your way past the smithing!

Oh, can you elighten us as to how the combines went with your skills. I see you are just over 220 on them all..... did you get many failures>?

I do intend on trying this quest, and if it is reasonable on trying it with skills at your level it will save some time rather than 250 each one in turn.

IMO, you are crazy to try the last 3 steps without max skill (240 skill + geerlok). The components are a pain to get and the failure rate can be quite high. For steps 1-4, you can get by with only 220 in each skill as its not that hard to redo them. But you may as well raise jewelcraft to 240 to save some money on possible failures as JC is so simple to max out. Really the worst step is tailoring - farming 15 saps took me FOREVER (took 5 tries ) as its hard to convince people to farm them with you for the crappy XP it results in. So I soloed them all, but if you have the ability to multi-box 3+ toons it goes alot faster.

My results at my skill levels:

              Smithing 188
              Brewing 221
              JC 221
              Pottery 220
              Tailoring 220
              Fletchinig 232
              Baking 250

              Smithing, MQd
              Brewing, 2/2
JC 1/1 (had 3 failures on the smithing part, my skill was 120 Smithing at the time)
              Pottery 2/2
              Tailoring 2/3
Fletching 1/2 (failed first at 220, so dumped another 30K into it)
              Baking 5/6

I'm a wizard with 320+ AA. I can solo the sap in Fire all day long. So I was not worried about lack of sap. Its one of the FEW exp camps you have in this whole quest. My guild is a raid guild and we are in the elements pretty much all the time. Only hard thing to get on bow is the Silk.

so there is really a skill check on the final turn in??

doh, i had myself "cheated" by getting the 1st quest item by using skill mod item at the time grimel was checking modified skill, so im "only" at 213 smithing

guess i will have to spend some more hundreds of hours in hollowshade/twilight....
