6th Shawl combine... do I go for it.?

5th and 6th shawls were annoying. I failed 5th twice at 158 skill... I hate shardwurms. Failed making the THREAD for 6th twice too... but at least I succeeded first try once I actually made the thread.

Then 7th and 8th were pretty easy for me, failed burin on 7th and faceting a gem, and imbuing a bracer on 8th (and that was at only 163 smithing and 170ish JC too =x)

Succeeded the 6th last night at skill 158 and got a skill up to 159 . Had failed it last week at skill 154. Now to drag my friends to SG and Kael for the remaining drops for the 7th.

Got mine 1st try at 158 before geerlocks were invented :P

Skill was 165 (no geerlock)...succeeded first try on both combines.

The 7th shawl is what gave me a headache...so many combines with potential to fail. I failed on the burin once (back to Sirens for another tooth) but everything else succeeded first try. Borrowed a few geerlocks for this one!

I made shawls 5 and 6 on the first attempt, at, um, 118 tailoring with geerlock. Got a skillup on number 6 too.

OK, I most definitely do not recommend someone try it at that level, I had two of the smithed spools that I made back when that was still possible, so I decided to try one of them just for grins.

Before doing shawl 7 I skilled up to 159, then while doing shawl 8, I skilled up to 165, mostly on the soft fur padding.

I did the 6th shawl combine on 2 different characters at 158 + mod. Succeded both times on the first combine.

5th shawl....5 tries with 122-140 tailoring

6th shawl....7 attemts with a 159+5% tailoring

took probably 30-40 hours total camping for the 6th shawl parts.

i was already a 201 smith.

7th shawl took 1 hour to get the parts and hit combine.

working on 8th as we speak.
