6th Shawl combine... do I go for it.?

Hey gang, first post! heh

I've been working hard on tailoring (190) and the shawl quest and I'm ready for the 6th shawl combine. I really don't want to farm siren hair again LOL /rude sirens so my question is do i go for the combine even though I haven't reached trivial skill level?

Will use geerlok too. Thanks for any tips or info!! Wow ... where have I been all these years tradeskills are a blast!!

The first combine was trivial at 148 tailoring. I did succeed at the second combine at 148 also. It was my 6th attempt and between my 5th and 6th attempt I had skilled up from 112 to 148 (cost something like 13kpp).

Many people try it at 158, and just keep collecting until they succeed.

190 should be fine. I tried and succeeded first time with a skill in the mid-180's. (Only combine through the entire 8 shawls that wasn't trivial when I tried it.)

There are many who stopped at Wu's and made their attempt, lots of them got it with first try. I did mine at 193. You should be fine at 190.

It took me two tries to get the 6th shawl combine - one failed at 152 and one made at 158, both with geerlok.

Personally, if you were able to get to 190 tailoring, then farming more siren hair should be a peice of cake for you. I would recomend working the sirens on the tip of CS near the Bulthork camp that are under the water - they are on these little underwater pillers and are a cake walk to deal with - no adding or anything.

If anything, that swordfish tooth is going to be the real SOB farm for you.

I made mine on the second attempt.

148 Skill with a Geerlock.

I was lucky from what I read on the siren hairs. 6 Dead sirens 4 siren hairs.

Mind that I'm quite lucky sometimes, but I succeeded on my first attempt with a 165 Tailoring + 5% Geerlock.

Prepare to hate me. :twisted:

Wiskers/beard: 40 min slaughtering giants/wolves near spires in GD.
Manes: 20 min in EW (10 of those spent waiting for snowstorm to end)
Siren hairs: 30 min in CS, near the SS entrance. had to clear sirens twice.

Tailoring skill: 148 + Geerlok.
Succeeded on the first try.

Several months collecting supplies multiple times. . . finally had a success on my 6th shawl on my 6th try with tailoring at 151.

"Phew" doesn't quite cover it. . . and yes, my 7th shawl was done very shortly after.

Easiest place to get the tooth is to have a druid succor you across the SG zone and set up in the room where the well entrance is. . . we split pulled the swordfish with a 62 warrior, 61 cleric, 65 druid, and others as needed. Got the teeth (yes, seems everyone who went needed one ) and some other nice little goodies along the way in less than two hours.

6th shawl took 4 trys for me at 152, including a fail on the trivial thread combine itself.

Skilled up to 161 and did all the Velium Hound fur for the 8th first try.

I got my combine success on the first try at 158 with Geerlok. I also crossed my fingers, stood on my nose, burped 3 times and had one eye 3/4ths of the way closed...

I did my first 2 combines at 146 and then added my geerlok.. failed both times. So, i then finished off some Wu's and got my skill up to 155. Added my geerlok again, and my 3rd combine suceeded!! w00t!
