8th Shawl question

Hello!

I just completed making all of the armor I need for the 8th shawl. Whoo hoo!

As I plan for the last quest, I have a question.

In all the information I can find, it seems the 8th shawl is broken up into 3 basic parts:

1) Make the armor (easier said than done!)

2) Do the whole "Dain" part of the quest to get the "Approved Issuing Box" and the "Expedition Orders" to give to General Bragmur.

3) Give the "box" and "orders" to the general to start the raid

I saw a note that basically said I can start the raid when I'm ready.

My question is this: can I do the Dain part of the quest several real time days before I do the raid?

One thing I hate about raids is the waiting around. I would hate to gather everyone together just to have a problem with the "Dain" part of the quest.

For example, I went to "scout out" Dain today and neither Dain nor Chamberlain Krystorf is around. . .

You can make the armor, wait a few months, turn in to get the approved kit and orders, wait a few more months, then do the final walk... the dwarf in IC is always up unless someone kills him or someone does the quest and then he shows up about 4 hours later, I beleive.

To answer your question, Yes you can do the Dain part however many days you wish before. Since you have to turn in items in IC to trigger the war itself. So you will not need a raid party till you get to IC. You want to make sure you have your raid party ready before handing in the items in IC though. Once you hand in the items the general starts walking and triggering the mobs along the way.

Well, I set up a time for the "walk". Got people all excited about it. Went to hang out with the General a couple of hours ahead of time to start to get ready.

45 mins after I arrive, another guy shows up and says he is doing the "walk".

We had both planned on doing it about the same time. Even though I was there first, he was being an idiot saying he was going to get his people there earlier so he could start it before me.

Of course, my guild got all upset and it became a mess. I decided to take the high road and backed off. It has taken me a long time to get to this point and I don't want to rush the end. I want to do it right.

Well, we tried again later that day and we did it! It was an amazing experience. We had no deaths, things went very well.

I will say that the info on the site made ALL the difference. Thank you!

One little side note: when we were done, one of the people that helped said "That is a nice item for such an easy quest". :roll:

This is not easy, don't let anyone tell you different. The hard part isn't the last "walk" (although it was something else!) The hard part was getting to be able to DO the walk.

For those of you that have completed it, you know what I mean.
