  • 9th/10th shawls

I recently finished my 8th shawl, quick question is that ive heard that soe said they would eventually implement the 9th and 10th shawls oneday and im wondering if anyone knows when this will happen or if they nixed the idea and the 8th is it or anything else etc etc etc. Please tell me if ya know anything.

From what I know Sony said that after a God comes down and blesses the shawl what more do you want? So taking that as far as I know there will not be a 9, 10 or more Shawl. Besides, the 8th has FT3 with a 20% extended duration focus on it, what would the 10 have?! It would be like the VT necelace almost! (I would not mind it if it was... )

9th could have 10 all stats, 10 SvALL, 75/75 hp/mana, clicky HP/MANA regen 3 (to avoid the FT cap and make is valuable even for those how get better shoulders), Buff duration increase of 25%.

10th could have 20 all stats, 15 SvALL, 125/125 hp/mana, clicky HP/MANA regen 4 (to avoid the FT cap and make is valuable even for those how get better shoulders), Buff duration increase of 30%.

Yeah, those would be worth the hassle of doing the type of tradeskill hells and ring events I imagine SoE would put into further shawls.

Verant has confirmed this at various FanFaires, there is not going to be a 9th and 10th shawl. I'm as bummed as you are, but hey, that's life.

My understanding was it was initially supposed to be a 10 part quest like the rings. The quest development wound up really stopping at 7 however. The players kept asking and bugging for the rest of the shawl series, and eventually they produced a shawl 8, but tried to make it roleplay impressive enough to end the series (as well as not leave any open ends in the quest text to imply another one). Probably did this to not have another "broken quest", so the quest text from end of 7 didn't seem broken (ie implying next step without one existing) and appeasing the players.

I, too, have read posts from VI/Sony essentially saying "The 8th was blessed by Brell himself, you can't get more powerful that", implying finality.

Yeah what Enfiniti said.. They may have meant for it to go further but they figured once the avatar of a god came down and gave you a nice piece of armor, it's over.... You can't top that. The shawl quest stops at 8. Thank god, I couldn't twink a rogue for Poision, or whatever they'd make us do for 9 and 10.

            Q

*edited to add* Can't speak for anyone else here, but the final steps of the 8th shawl were amazing for me. Probably more so as a dwarf, but it was really cool to see the avatar of my god come down and tell me I did a good job

I know they have said that 8 was the end, but i still secretly hope the will one day go up to 10.

Yes the avatar of Brell has blessed it, but now we have POP, we are meeting gods and stuff, maybe Brell himself could offer us some improvements....

I would love to see it being a usable piece of equipment right up to the end of my EQ life.... I mean comparable to dropped items in the higher Planes.

Even if they were extreamly hard quests and level locked, like 63 for shawl 9 and 65 for shawl 10. I would still do em.

              -------------------------

Heh maybe the final result of Aid Grimmel could be handed to a GrandMaster of all Trades NPC allong with shawl 8.

Grandmaster All'Trades tells you : I see you have created the (aid grimel earing), it is such a pretty little thing isnt it. If i had the correct [components] i could craft a [broach] from such a pretty object.

              Pootle says : what Components?

Grandmaster All'Trades tells you : All this would need would be a pin, but to make a pin of this quality and size would take the highest skills of a blacksmith who posseses the skills of a master jewler.

(input recipy crap to make some pin that uses very high level smithing and jewlcrafting, and probable a number of rare drops or subquests to get the components)

              Pootle says : what Broach?

Grandmaster All'Trades tells you : This broach will take the powers of magic contained in the earing and enhance a cloak or shawl. A garment would have to be powerful to begin with, maybe one touched by a god.

Pootle says : What about my Blessed Coldain Prayer Shawl

Grandmaster All'Trades tells you : Brell himself may not have touched this, but it was blessed by an avitar of Brell... hmm, this may work. Once you have crafter the pin, bring it to me.

Make pin, give it to the NPC.

Grandmaster All'Trades takes the pin you have made and sits at her workbench, her head bent down, peering closely at the items in her hands. Suddenly she gasps, holding up a broach that sparkels in the candle light.

Grandmaster All'Trades tells you : here take this and use your tailoring skills to attach it to your Shawl. It will enhance Brells blessing and the power of your shawl.

              ---------------------------

This i think would be a great step up to the quest, and it also feeds into Shawl 10 which will have Brell Himself (not an avatar) put the final power into your shawl. Quote --> "Brell himself may not have touched this, but it was blessed by an avitar of Brell"

Just an idea..... but i enjoyed writing it.

No, please nothing that involves Aid Grimel or the high tier planes...it'd break my heart to be prevented from doing later shawls because I'm not in an uberguild. I don't mind other content along those lines, and I don't mind if further shawls would be looooong, tough quests. But after people have worked so hard on the shawls thus far, to suddenly exclude them just because they're not in the right type of guild just wouldn't be right.
