Best way to get help with the 8th Shawl escort mission?

After a very long time I finally have everything ready for my 8th Shawl. I now just need to escort the general across Iceclad.

However I am in a very small guild (about 6 regular players, and 3 of those are really very casual players) that does not have the firepower to do the mission.

What would be the best way to gather a force strong enough to do the escort mission?

I posted on my server boards and have yet to get a response (other than the 'hey you made a mistake in your post' posting).

I'm planning on doing the quest this Wednesday (6:30 PST on the luclin server if you want to help... /smile) so I'm hoping for some strategies that don't take a lot of time to organize.

As this will end up being a pick up group, what is the down side if the mission fails for some reason? Will I just have to do the 8th shawl combines over again?

Its classic that you are posting this just as I finish my final armor combine and am in the same boat.

I happen to be in a guild that is large enough to do this walk but I tend to be online much later the the bulk of the troops. So here is what I plan to do:

I am offering to spawn the dain in Icewell Keep for some guild to kill in exchange for them helping me with walk. The Dain is a valued spawn on most/all servers and as such, folks will probably jump at the chance. The fact that you can spawn the Dain is a huge boon to you.

It's kind of short notice for being this Wednesday, but several people in my guild (Circle of Radiance) play on weeknights. Several of us have done the escort before for my shawl (with the help of our allies) and I believe for one or two others outside the guild. Feel free to make a post at our message board.

Maybe pushing it back an hour or two would help. I personally would love to attend but I don't get off work until 6:30 PST, though I might be able to swing something.

If you fail, "all" you have to do is make the armor kit again.

Just a note, you used up your one summoning of the Dain so you will need to wait on him or find someone else summoning him in order to do make a second attempt at the 8th.

Good point Verdandi, but I don't think that's much of a problem on our humble little server. When I went to turn mine in the Dain was already up, and I've seen him up before at other times too.

Yeah, he was already up when I went to finish that part of the quest.

Heh, I posted on the server board offering to spawn the Dain at no cost and no help for the walk. Got ZERO response!

Gonna plan this with guild for sometime in the future since we are small and not a lot of peeps are on at the same time to do this.

I offered cold hard cash to get help. I zoned into PoK and did a few /ooc saying that anyone who would come along had a chance at ALL items that dropped and that at the very end I would give 20k pp in a one time /random roll.

This worked like a champ and I now have my eighth shawl.

I do realize that not everyone has access to that kind of money but for me it was an option with my success on tradeskills.

Niellya did send me a tell, and one other person who I had talked to before said he might help. I spent a bit of time /ooc for help, but didn't think to offer a cash bonus.

A real life friend in a big guild offered to help but then had a contested spawn for a high level mob so the entire guild was up in arms. They also have 4 or so people in their guild who need to do the quest too, so they would be less likely to help an outsider first.

I could probably do an 8000pp bonus to one lucky person.

I'll probably try to schedule something for a few weeks out (fan faire is going on now) and just mention it to folks while I'm grouping. It is mildly frustrating to have everything ready to go except that one last step...

I'm going to make the attempt on Saturday the 12th at 9:00 am EST. I've made a post on the server message boards. I'll be randoming 8Kpp for the help to be distributed as one lump sum to one lucky helper.
