3rd Coldain Ring

Kay, I'm having a bit of a problem with the knife you're required to make through Blacksmithing for the 3rd ring. On this site, it says that the trivial skill level is 41. Well, with 202str, 187wis, and a 42 skill level, I have now failed 4 times at making this. Maybe I am having a run of *extremely* bad luck, or the trivial was raised or just incorrect. In any case, if anyone could post their experience that they've had with this quest *recently*, it would be most appreciated.

The word "trivial" when applied to EQ tradeskills really means "you can no longer advance your skill with this recipe." Even though your skill is past the trivial point, you still have a very good chance of failure at skill level 42. If you have no trouble collecting the components for this combine, you might want to just try some more. In order to drastically increase your chances of success, however, try to get a few more skill points in smithing.

Personally, I would make dairy spoons until skill of 65 or more (diary spoons trivial at 74) and then try the knife again. Skill ups should happen quickly for you in this skill range.
