    2 Failures so far

I attribute the second failure to my stupidity in not equiping my geerlok before hitting combine... /mutter /mutter

The whiskers are a snap.. I was wandering through GD yesturday and, sparked by my joy of finally getting Max ally with CoV, massacred wolfs for 10 minutes and got 2 whiskers out of the deal. Gleeful I went to EK, killed 2 manticores within 5 minutes and had 2 more manes.. whooo.
Beards are easy to get in the bazaar, and if not I see them on 50% of the vendors I browse..

    But the darn sirens... bleargh!

I'm 4 levels higher than I was when I farmed the first 4 hairs, but even back then I could break the SG zone line camp and hold it fairly well.. died once and got pet charmed twice so far (grumble, grumble, gotta kill my own warder). Plus I can get my MR to over 100 with gear and have a 15 MR self buff (Well, 65 if you include Savagery, but I ain't blowin a peridot unless I have to).

The big trouble is that their respawn is sooooo looooong... I'm tempted to try to take out the ones in the middle of the lake as well, but breaking one camp is hard enough.

Has anyone been able to single pull these beasts? Could I invis, swim close enough to target one, back off, summon pet, pull from max range, and get only one? (I'm lvl 60, BTW)

After getting PoV/PoS flaged, dinging 60, getting Baron title, and getting Max ally with CoV, 8th shawl is the last remaining goal I've had for a long while. (Which is quickly becoming just getting the dang 6th shawl)

    Other camp

Right at the base of the cliff at Skyshrine there is another camp. Its right near the bulthars under the water. As you follow the waterline fromt he othmirs there are 3 underwater pillars with a siren camped on each one. Single pulls (I actually charge em) and there are the three I spoke of, plus another batch of 3 right on the beach past the 3rd pillar. Now that I think of it, the 3rd pillar is empty but its a good spot to pull the beach-3 to to kill. At 62nd level with kei I was just able to keep the camp clear before respawn.

So there you have a 5 spawn camp to play with.

Good luck, 2 failures! Ack. I guess I was lucky....

I pulled the same camp, but from on top of the cliff (at least the first 3 on the beach and then there are 2 or 3 in the water just off the beach). I'm kos to CoV and othmir and bulthar (and everything else in CS), but that bit of cliff is safe spot from CoV. The only thing that paths there is an occasional seashell collector othmir (die you otter scum!) and Kerak'Dar the dragon, if he's up (he marched over my head one day when I was medding - thank Tunare I was invis and he doesn't see through invis).

I go to that camp and park my pet down where they spawn. I go about 75% of the way up the cliff and tell my pet to attack. Then I slow the one that my pet is engaging. If I have a Mage with me I will and have taken all spawn points and ran them on a cycle. I can farm them sucessfully solo but much more prefer getting a Druid or Mage for help. It really helps to have a Lodi Shield or some other EB item so that you dont have to worry about casting and keeping EB up.

But ummm yea. I failed my First combine completly. Ok grr.. I get the stuff for the second. I make the Blessed Coldain Thread. Yeaaaa.. I faile the Shawl combine. Grrrr. That happened 2 days ago. I am going hunting this weekend for more components. I think I am going to get 4 to 6 Siren Hairs so I can fail a few times. The rest of the stuff is easy to get.

Tried that place down near the Skyshrine portal.

There seems to be 8 total Sirens down there.

3 up on the beach, 1 on two different underwater boulders, one straight north of the beach and one east of that, 2 on a different boulder underwater right beside the very tip of that peninsula, and 1 more on a small outcropping out of the water on the other side of the peninsula from the trio.

Pulled one on the beach with dispell, then discovered the 2 spawn accidently while poking around for a spot to climb the wall.. luckily both where enticers so they were dealt with easy. Sent put in to take out one of the remaining ones on the beach, the other didn't aggro, took out the second. The two on the underwater boulders where singled easily, then I found the one around the peninsula and took that one out as well.

About 2 hours later I had 4 hairs.
15 minutes later I had my shawl, woo hoo!

I was successfull last night at completing my Shawl 6.

I am L54 ENC, and had a L53 Monk with me.

Took us about 2 hours to get 2 hairs for the combine.

It took us an hour to break the spawns (his MR being 80 WITH my buff didn't help things as he got charmed twice and almost killed me).

Once we finally got them broken (initially 2 groups of 2-pops, then finally 1-popping at a time and next not spawning until first dead, and still having 10 minutes down-time) I was able to solo them (it is the adds that hurt).

This was my 3rd attempt at making the spool (my skill last night was 156, I don't recall what it was the first 2 attempts when the spool failed).

And the robe was successfull on that first successfull spool. Skill up to 157 as well.

As a 51st level enchanter, I found the sirens trivially easy solo once I figured out how to do them. (Indeed, having a partner would probably have hurt rather than helped because of the increased risk of charming.) I am kindly to CoV (specifically waited on the siren hairs until I was at least tolerated by CoV) as well as to the otters (5 levels hunting ulthork in EW made sure of that), so the risk of adds was minimal; I would say that unless you have a specific reason not to want to increase CoV (if, say, you're trying to be tolerated by both giants and dwarves at the expense of the dragons -- though that seems unlikely for anyone this deep into the shawl quests), it's worth the time to get to at least dubious before trying this. (And raising faction with the othmir is quick and easy, should you choose to be really safe about it.)

I concentrated on the 3-spawn under the Skyshrine tower. My MR was 174 for this (99 base plus GRM and Arch Shielding), but that was probably overkill -- I don't think I got hit with more than three spells the whole time, and no charms at all. I'd say 150 would be likely more than enough. (But if you can get more, better safe than sorry.)

For the initial break, just Pacify the two you don't want; any enchanter at this level should have a high enough CHA that this should be relatively riskless. I pulled the third with Tash, then backed maybe ten paces out of range and then spammed my mez hotkey. Eventually, the siren will step into range and you'll almost assuredly mez before she gets off a spell.

During the first mez, if you're not full on mana, fire off Theft of Thought (and Wandering Mind if you've got it). Med for a little while, then nuke, back up a few steps, and spam the mez key again. Repeat alternating mezzes and nukes, backing up far enough that the siren eventually can be seen up top (when Pacify wears off on the other two, they have a large agro range, so you want to get the one you're fighting well out of the way). Insert another ToT and/or Wandering Mind when they refresh.

If you fizzle a couple of mezzes near the end, your siren may gate back to spawn point -- this is only a problem when you're still breaking the initial spawn. Any other time, the spawns will be sufficiently separated in time that there's unlikely to be a second one spawned yet.

This worked fine for enticers and seductresses; no enchantresses spawned while I was there, but working around them should be relatively easy with Pacify. I never got below about 60% mana, even though I only had Clarity. The worst part was waiting for new ones to spawn; they seem to be on a 15 or 20 minute spawn timer, and finishing off the three usually took at most half of that.

Took about 15 sirens to get the two hairs, maybe a total of two or so hours. Ended up being much easier than I had feared.

Even with pretty high tailoring (range of 158 to 170) it took me six trys to make my 6th shawl. I have felt your pain.

One of the combines took me only two sirens to kill. Other combines took upwards of 50. High MR is really the key (over 150). I actually used my pet as a DoT. He got charmed once the whole time I was there. I quickly killed the charmer and my pet just sat there.

I've found that the spawn near the Cobalt Scar zone is a little better because there are 4 siren spawns. More sirens to kill = more chances at a drop.

Also the zone is a quick run if things happen to go bad.
