7 Shawls down, 1 to go

Wow, talk about cardiac! Doing that last combine on 7th shawl was scary! Anyway, down to the last one. Smithing is at 70, I have 3 soft paddings already made, need to camp geonids soon I guess... I started shawl quests with 8k in the bank, got 405pp left.

So does anyone have any cheerleading they can do? Tell me how easy this one is in comparison to other parts.... How easy smithing is in comparison to tailoring.... How simple the geo camps are.... About how velium hounds are dropping two pelts per kill now.... Lol!

The best I can do for encouragement is that you don't have to get tailoring any higher for this shawl...if you got past the 6th, you're ok here. :roll:

But seriously, smithing for the shawl isn't too bad, it's just if you want to go any further that it gets infernal....

Well, I got past the 6th, but, I would hardly say I was OK after that. I did shawl 6 at 116 tailoring, succeeded, and got a skillup to 117. I did recently trivial Wus armor, so I feel better about my tailoring.

Perhaps I should have said that if you got your tailoring up to a reasonable level for the 6th shawl, you'll be ok for the 7th...

Heh, well, yes, first attempt, back to back shawls 5 and 6, got the skillup on shawl 6. Finished up Wus armor before attempting shawl 7, finished that last night at 158 tailoring, and, got another skillup to 159. Yes, first attempt on that one too. All combines except the tailoring one were trivial for me, I trained Fletching to 176 on Saturday (from 21), and JC to 179 yesterday (from 21) before doing the Fletching and JC parts of the shawl.

So, seven down for me now, and one to go.

Heres a tip for geonids:
Get a lvl 60 chanter with Dire charm to help you.
Have him direcharm the Wounded giant near the enterance to the caves.
Youll like how much he regenerates.

Okay, sure enough, the first day I go to hunt geo's; there is a 62 Chanter there with a dire charmed geo. We proceed to lay the smackdown on the place and I get all my gems! I actually got one before soloing and the last emerald an hour ago, but WOW, does dire charm make it easy!

Thanks for the tip, I knew just who to look for!

I finished all my gems very early last night. As I'm only a 58 enchanter and I don't have dire charm yet, I used regular charm.

I started the night with the need for two sapphires and one diamond. First three shimmering genoids that pop drop.... two sapphires and one diamond.

I had a smithing skill of 189 and JC of 250 and tailoring of 213 and had no failures on any of the combines at all for the 8th.

Now I just have to round up a force to do the turn in.

what is the tailoring that you need?

I thought it was 212 as stated in Allakhazam's

Doesn't anyone get the gems off the wyverns in Western Wastes? I don't see too many burrowing wyverns (mostly over by the wyvern caves), but I've gotten gems off the normal wyverns. The experience is much better than geonids. And, after taking a character through the Phenocryst Focus Quest, I feel sorry for the poor critters (I've also done the intro to that quest to get the nifty Identify item).

According to the EQ Traders Shawl Guide, the trivial on the seventh shawl is 162. The trivial for the sixth is the high one, currently known to be between 204 and 209.

Since many folks are KOS to the dragons in WW, it can be a much harder spot to fight in. The Genoids are often very simple single pulls. While gathering the Velium Hound Furs in WW I died quite a few times. I did make one treck towards the caves, but got dragon agro on the way and died. The quicker I could get out of there the better as far as I was concerned.

Shawl 7 combine is not trivial at 158. I got a skillup on that combine to 159.
