  • Question regarding handing in 7th shawl to get approved...

Has anyone tried charming the Chamberlain and handing in 7th shawl to get it approved? I have a friend who's KOS to the dain's faction. Wondering if this will work. Has anyone tried?

Ummm, seeing as how you'd still need to turn stuff into the dain, don't think it would do you any good--relatively certain the dain can't be charmed :P

However, might work if what you're looking to do is MQ the 8th shawl. But even then, I'd think it would be easier/quicker to get a faction hit on a Tormax kill...one hit put me from max KoS to dubious, two has me back at amiably.

My understanding is that you cannot complete quests with charmed mobs. I might be wrong in that, but it's what I was told many, many moons ago, and I've yet to see anyone attempt it since.

I've completed quests with charmed mobs before, works fine. You still need the required faction though, charmed mobs are always indiff (unless you are the charmer, in which case they are amiable I think) so if that's not high enough for your quest it won't work.

          faction

I once went to the trouble of arranging for a bard friend to charm Sentry Kcor(?) in SS so I could turn in giant helms to him when I was KoS to CoV. Worked then.

When a mob is charmed, it becomes indifferent to others and Amiable to the charmer. Therefore, most any quest that only needs indifferent faction could be done with a charmed mob. Some quests require indifferent faction above default indifferent, so don't work. If amiable faction is needed for the quest, then a non-enchanter would have to figure out how to charm the mob needed(Puppet strings/Mistletoe powder anyone?)

Charm is required to complete the paladin epic...Miragul the Lich must be charmed in order to turn in the Phylactery of Life.

Not being up to date on charms, and the messages they give, would possibly dictate work? or has someone tried Dictate?

Probably not, CoD = Command of Druzzil, the level 64 enchanter spell.

I used sneak to hand the 7th shawl into Krystorf. Indifferent worked fine and the Dain spawned right on que. Krystorf is level 60. Assuming you could charm him, that would be enough. A skilled monk can single pull Krystorf out to the ice away from other dwarfs to attempt a clean charm, too.
