  • Vah Shir progressive quests worth it for non-Vah Shir?

Sorry to post again so soon!

I'm on a roll with these progressive tradeskill quests, but I'm doing them with my barbarian shaman. So far the cloak and buckler that I've gotten aren't useable by me.

Is there any point in this quest where a barb can use the items? I've done tradeskills for quite some time now, so I'm used to bad rewards, but no reward whatsoever might be too much. I don't need to spend all this time only to have a nice cloak sit and rot in the bank.

    Thanks for the input!

For the Cloak/Sonic Wolf bane quest series:
Beastlord quest rewards are usable by all BST races.
Shaman, Warrior, Rogue, Bard quest rewards are _ONLY_ VAH usable.

This is because Verant went through back in Feb 01 and added BAR IKS OGR TRL VAH to the usable races for all BST usable items. This resulted in some races being able to use items that were never intended for their use. Example: Stone of Morid 30FR/CR range item was originally IKS only
    Thorvari - Walkers
    Feral Lord - Vazaelle

      Thats really quite depressing.

It would have been nice to have a good progressive tradeskill quest to work on other than that **** shawl.

And I was already all finished with the quests up to the bane weapon.

      Sucky!

There are a few progressive tradeskill quests other than the one you mentioned. Once you finish the weapon the tradeskill part of that quest is over anyway.

Give you slate to Broker Fahaar to initiate a tailoring quest,
give it to Merchant Ayyad to initiate a pottery quest,
give it to Ahlam(not sure of name) to initiate a brewing quest,
and there is a smithing quest started by buying a shield frame from Master Barkhem.

None of them have near the scope of the Vah Shir epic or the Shawl quest but they are fun and require quite a bit of time to do. Some of them have nice rewards like the ability to make 35% reduction 6-slot containers, a 50% reduction container and an easier route to skilling up tailoring to 135 than Wu's (owlbear tunics don't require mana vials and only use easily farmed components).

The pottery and Fletching quests are, IMO, worth it. The potter gives another WR item (8 slots, 50%, holds large) that looks NOTHING like a standard back pack... <whistles innocently>. The fletching lets you make some nice darts that MIGHT be useful to you... That's about it personally.
