I'm a long time lurker of the EQTraders boards. Had an experience tonight that I felt should be shared with those that are doing the Shawl quests or assisting in the war.
Over a year I've been working my shawl, I do a step and toss it on the back burner until I'm ready to continue. Made it less frustrating for me. I've been involved in a few shawl wars. The majority of them involving KOS folks. It was never a problem really. "Mem Blur General Please!".
So tonight on my shawl. Get everyone ready and start heading to the General. One of the bards calls out that Avatar of Below is on track. Seemed a little odd but I was not going to let that faze me. The General was up and I figured all was well. We go through the war virtually flawlessly. With 15+ avg lv 63 it was a breeze. A bit of overkill even. Main trouble is that about half of the folks at the War are KOS.
We arrive at the Gnome Igloos in high spirits. General Bragmur and Nalot go begin their dialouge. At the moment AOB is supposed to spawn on the fire, the General is Aggroed by a KOS member of the war.
A mem blurr and about 10 hails later. The General Despawns without finishing the dialouge. No Avatar spawns for my turn in. I petitioned for assistance(very doubtful that I will receive). Not getting any response I try logging to the chat room. Only to be told to petition in game. I log back in game and find out that my Guild has tracked down the OTHER Avatar that was up. A COtH quickly put me in hailing distance of AOB. Hail,Avatar of Below. No response. I figured what the hell. Hard part of shawl is the skills. I turned in shawl 7. Would you believe that wacky SOB did exactly what he was supposed to at this point?
So now I wear Shawl8, even though I did my turn in 2miles away from the gnomes. Underwater no less.
I have completly forgivin the poor KOS War member. I understand how you can get caught up in a cool event. Just wanted to warn folks to be extra careful with the odd things on track and KOS people having a good time.
