  • Swordfish Tooth for 7th shawl

Are these soloable by 58th ranger?

I see a group of 3 by the WW zone but havent tried them since
those walrus aggro me everytime I am near. Will probably need to kill them first before I try the fish.

    1) Can they be single pulled?
    2) Do I need to fight them in the water?
    3) Are they considered animals?

    1) Probably, with some form of harmony, but I don't know
    2) Yes.
    3) I dunno.

I do not think you can solo the mobs outside of the water and probably not the ones in it either. But I do not know. All I know is that you *do* have to fight them in the water.

You'll need help, at the very least a 58+ shaman to slow the mobs. I helped a friend get this quite recently.

      The short answers are :

      3. Yes, they are Animals
      2. Yes, you have to fight them in the water.
      1. No & Yes; they can't be single pulled even at 62, but they can be separated, but it is very hard.

Getting to this spot from WW - you can invis and travel west into the long corridor (bypassing the static walrus) - then you should kill the roaming bulthar/ulthork/molkor to avoid it adding later. Then, there's a static bulthar/ulthork/molkor opposite the end of the tunnel, we killed that too, then proceeded south to the end of the shallow channel of water in which the swordfish are.

One of the 3 fish wanders about, and can be killed in the 'channel' without aggroing the other 2. The other 2 pull together - and various spliting techniques failed. One that almost worked was for me be at the end of the channel overlooking the deeper pool, then Fear one of the 2, which means the other comes for me. I would then jump out, then someone else would aggro this mob. Me jumping out wipes the feared fish's aggro fear ran out, in theory - but I ended up chain-fearing the feared one as it kept coming back to interfere in the fight.

I was able to split the 2 swordfish solo, I cant remember offhand how I did it. It was either Root, Snare, Fear or some combo of the 3. I was 60 at the time and me and a 54 druid did it with no slow. Druid nearly went OOM healing me. :/

From the zone in, I swam to the right and let the seahorses aggro me. I climbed up some ledge (there was a bridge nearby and it led to the well where sirens were). I saw a lone swordfish swimming back and forth and I was able to jump in the water away from the seahorse static spawns and solo the sword fish.

Did this as a level 62 cleric with the 60 summoned hammer and my trusty hammer pet. Was a close fight for me, but stuns and healing myself was key. Dunno if that helps, but I do think it's possible to find a way to solo the swordfishes if you're determined enough.

            Did this over the weekend.
Went to WW to do the Bracer of Benevolence and stopped by to do this.
The wandering fish was out in the middle of the water away from the other two and we just killed it. Then went on to kill the named siren.

Doubt I would have been able to solo it with the other 2 close by. If they werent, I would have been to fear kite it.

If you got the tooth off of a single kill, then you can count yourself lucky. It took me 5 and my friend about 20. Congrats.

They are immune to snare/root and you can't druid harmony indoors...I couldn't single pull them at 65.

There is one swordfish that spawns alone that I soloed as a 63 ranger but of course I have pretty good gear. I have yet to kill a swordfish since then and NOT get a tooth, every one has dropped one for me of the people I've helped. The single one spawns in the pool below the waterfall on the Western Wastes side of the zone. I got a 2nd tooth after failing the 7th shawl but forgot I still had the burin! I felt pretty silly then.

The solo spawn petri pointed out is your best bet.

I think SG is considered outdoors (not certain, but it looks like it).

A L 60 paladin friend of mine could solo the fish with some luck back in the day when 60 was cap (he was pre-NToV level gear at the time). I duo'd them with a L 63 paladin and a L 61 enchanter (fight was trivial).
