Considering the first task ask for drops from a t8 zone, it's not "unfair" that the npc hang in a t8 zone.
Could you come up with a better place for Underfoot Prayer Shawl than next to Brell Serilis(the God)? in his temple ? considering the old 8th came from his Avatar ?

The point is you did not have to be leveled up or flagged in order to be able to complete the previous task and yet it was at the time (and even for a long time afteward) a very desirable item and one of the better shoulder items in the game. Sadly you can currently get a number of really nice items without being flagged at all, so why the insistence to do so for this quest. Also, I fully expected these tasks for be grown off the old ones and at least started if not continued through from Thurgadin. I think it is a missed opportunity to tie in the old lore and help get people to at least visit old zones.

I'm stuck on the "Find some fresh clay in the foundation - Foundation" step of the second quest. The walkthrough wasn't specific, anyone have tips on how to get the clay to pop onto my cursor? Guildmate spent an hour running around west side of Foundation, no luck.

          See if this helps:

Find some fresh clay in the foundation. (Zone: The Foundation)
Run into Hole in northwestern area near A flint Genati
Get update and Foundation Clay Sample

Tips for the baking shawl: Essence of Steam drops from steam elementals in Brell's Rest. Best way to get Snow Griffin Eggs is to clear all mobs from Sleeper's Tomb to the top of Kael ramp in EW. Caveflower pollen is a ground spawn near zone-in of Cooling Chamber, Neutralized Goo Acid is a common drop off goos (they don't hit hard but come three at a time). There's a baking spit in the gnoll camp in Brell's Rest so you don't have to keep gating to PoK etc. to do the four souffle combines. Best place I found for horse meat was the unicorns in Eldarr Forest. Organic Clockwork Oil and Clockwork Balance Gear are uncommon drops off clockworks in Kernagir Shining City, "a cleaner" seems to drop them most often, pulls look very difficult in this zone and the mobs hit pretty hard, bring a group.

Tips for the pottery shawl: In Foundation, say 'clay' to the questgiver to get the tool to remove the clay golem sample. The clay that appears on your cursor came from near A Flint Genati on Rasper's map, Divine Aura will help with this. Far nothwest corner of the zone is a safe spot for farming cliknars; die in a safe spot in the tunnel and let merc rez you if you can't get past the see invis mobs. In Brell's Temple, you need to clear the two rooms before you can get the clay and water, and you need to combine the water collecting tool with vodka in the kiln nearby after each collection. Collect all the water before doing the combines. Thoridain will return supplies to you if you fail the combines (say "replacements" to him), very nice of him.

Tips for the tailoring shawl: Gnolls and kobolds drop the downy fur 20% of the time, pull them to empty spots to minimize adds. Only earths drop the slime you need in Fungal Forest, moss slimes won't work, best place to farm is the Hungry Earth camp. Oozes at the zone-in of CC don't drop the solvent you need, you have to go in deeper. You have to jump off the east end of the biggest iceberg in the southernmost pool of Cooling Chamber without levitate to collect the icy slush water, bring ITU potions (note the slush water is Temporary so you have to do the combines before you camp for the night).

Tips for the shawl walk: Silver drops 67% of the time off a cliknar mine worker, copper drops about 50% of the time from a burynai plotter, burynail tunnelblade, or burynai mineblade. The four key commands for the robot are Stop, Start, Continue, and Reset. Do not say Reset unless you want to redo the quest after a failure. Stop will not work while the robot is testing the lava, you have to tell him again after his test is complete. I'm not sure when to use Start and when to use Continue but you need to use both at different times during the walk to get him moving. Pull mobs before he aggroes them or he may go running off. Also be very careful next to cracks in the lava, he has weird pathing and can go running off if he aggroes mobs on the other side of the crack.

While you may have a point from a Lore perspective, having the NPC just outside the door (in Brell's Rest, near Gatekeeper) would just have easily worked. And the quest could have been designed differently, they just chose to have it use T8 zones right off the bat. And if you look at the hp/mana, I won't be using this item until I complete step 4. Everything else is less than what you can get off a T7 zone named.
For example, it could have gone-
                        Step 1 = Tier 6
                        Step 2 = Tier 6/7
                        Step 3 = Tier 7
                        Step 4 = Tier 7/8
                        Step 5 = Tier 8
                        Step 6 = Tier 8/9
                        Step 7 = Tier 9
                        Step 8 = raid

To me this would have been more of a progression in the steps and rewards. But I can see how it would have also limited what could be done. The "flavor" of some of the quests needing certain zones.
I got T8 flagged last week. Started the quest. Worked all week on 1st shawl, finished it. Starting 2nd one now. At least I know I have awhile and many steps to complete before I have to worry about flagging for T9/Convort zones. And like I said, I can start wearing it after Step 4.

Several of the tasks look to you to explore the Underfoot as a whole. Not just the lower tier zones. Also, the first task I can think of that requires t9 access is the 6th one with JC. While it might be helpful on the 5th it is not required.

As far as requiring t8 access. I was t8 flagged in about 2 weeks from release of UF. When the shawl tasks came out, I would have considered anyone in my guild not already t8 flagged to be slacking and not trying to see the new expansion. Those who tried to achieve the progression and unlock the t8 zones did. Those who usually sit around and wait for others to do the work for them, are the ones still waiting for someone to spoon feed them the missions so they can see the new zones. I do not consider t8 flagging to be a roadblock to this quest. I tanked all of the t6 and t7 missions in group gear. Were they all easy and able to sleep through them without trying, no. But we were able to do them.

Honestly, my toons are able to box now in some t8 spots easier than in some t6/7 zones.

Just a small bit of contrary opinion. The progression missions require tanks, healers, crowd control. Those uncomfortable in pick-up groups may find a lengthy time before the inclination of friends, guildmates extends in the direction of your need. Pressing your request creates bad "faction".

It is everyone's need. Unlocking the zones of the expansion?? Who would not consider that a need?

Also I said that was for the people in my guild. Your guild or you not being in a guild could be different.

My group tried to do my shawl escort task last night and failed due to a train by other groups in the zone. So, I remade the Brell Silver and went back to the robot tonight and he wouldln't take it or talk to me. Is this the intent of the task that if you fail you need to drop the task and redo all the steps? You get no text or message that I saw after failing and the robot wouldnt restart after we got the group going again so my hope was that if I remade the Silver I could continue on. Would be nice if the task ended or you got some kind of message after failing.
