  • Having KOS main tank for 8th war

Am I crazy to try and find a replacement for a RL friend who was supposed to be my main tank but is KOS to the General?

Another RL friend, who plays an enchanter, says for me not to worry about it. He'll do his mem blurring, etc., to keep the General on track (he has yet to participate in any 8th shawl wars).

So, was I crazy when I suggested he (the warrior) sit this one out and I find another main tank for the war? Or am I just too paranoid?

You're just being paranoid, but I don't blame you

If you have the force on then it won't be a problem. Heck, a cleric or two would even do the job by chain casting Atone on the general when he aggro'd on the tank, so a chanter would have a much easier time of mem blurring.

Don't count on sticking to just one MT though. You'll either need a few kiters or about 5 tanks at most just to keep the mobs busy during each wave. That's to be absolutely safe at least.

      Quest completed!

Was annoying at worst...amusing at best having warrior agro after each fight.

But the 8th shawl is now mine and I am happy!

Took my 3 weeks, from start to finish to do the quest. It helped having my skills, minus jewelcraft, all 160+ to begin with.

Hardest part was getting people to help me with 8th shawl war. Dang guild raids! LOL

Ouhc. getting people shouldn't have been a problem.... all i did was post the other drops that can happen during fights.

We went with the mulit-kiter approache, and had 2 people who were kos. we just had them play outriders to clear the junk mobs.. a sore use for a 59 beastlord and 60 rogue, but it was fun

Grats on your 8th, may it "sparkle" for a long time.

          Atone/memblurr is your best friend

Being KOS myself i've tanked in the war, just back off/invis and have the general atoned

This fight doesn't have a main tank usually. Having a melee per giant makes it go quicker.

You can do the kite solution I guess. =)

I am not the Yakatizma you are looking for.
            No, really.

Agreed. Having 5-6 tanks is the easiest. When I did this we were extremely tankheavy and it was a breeze (3 groups showed up, but I think we had at least 6 55+ warriors). I think the extent of my instructions were 'each tank get on a different mob at each spawn', 'xxxxx and yyyyy (the pet handlers, in this case a mage and BL) will handle any wandering mobs that get close and aggro' and 'zzzzz (cleric w/atone) will handle the general if he gets stuck under the ice'.
