  • 6th Shawl sirens and soloing

Greetings! I am a level 65 Ranger. I have never fought the sirens in CS. I know they are green to me. I also know I'm a Ranger. <wink>

Think I have to call a friend to help? I have died 5 times while soloing in almost 4 years of playing EQ. I don't want to die a 6th, especially to a green MOB. I have soloed the shawl quest so far and am trying to do as much on my own as possible (I hate asking for help, even from friends).

    The important stats:

    *3700 hps
    *40+ regen
    *40 Damage shield
    *ability to cast dispell
*52% earthcall slow proc (also have 15/21 weapon)
    *116 MR
    *EB item
    *90% self haste
    *Endless Quiver AA skill
    *Archery Mastery 3 AA skill
    *700 cold based DD

You should be able to do just fine without the aid of a friend. Only problem I can see is your MR. Even with 116 MR, Sirens > Odom. Careful though, as they love to charm.

Hunt the Sirens near the SS ramp. They are off on the right hand side of the cliff. One located underneath that lone Wyvern and then one or two (IIRC) on the left hand side of the cliff in the water. This way you won't necessarily need to have a EB item. Unless of course they are camped.

And the problem with bringing a friend is this:

One gets charmed, the other gets dead.

Or, the charmed one gets killed by the friend, in self defense.

Since you're level 65, the sirens in Cobalt scar are going to barely scratch you, if they manage to hit you. Your (even melee) dps will kill them in about 5 seconds, and most of their spells (except tash) will bounce right off of you. Level >> Magic Resistance when you're 25 levels above the creature.

I have little doubt that a lvl 65 anything could kick these gal's arses.

          Me, however, I'm worried about.

          52 Beastlord w/ 52 Beastlord duo partner
Both of us have approx. 105 MR with Resist magic buff on
          We can cast Cancel Magic

My thought is that I'd pull with slow (As I always do), then run to the SS ramp and then past it so that I stay out of casting range while the siren(s) runs towards me. Once they reach my pet and duo partner the pets would attack, both hasted, DEX buffed, with Spell interupt proc while we stand back and cast DoTs and nukes.

Will I pull the whole party of 3? Any other pointers? Should We wait till 54 or later?

            done!

I had to collect 4 siren hairs to finish the 6th shawl but it is complete! I was about 4 for 20 on drops (20% rate)

Had little trouble one on one with the Sirens. I did get over zealous on a few pulls and got 3 of them on me once. Was down to 20% health but killed them all.

            Thanks guys for the responses.

58 shaman duod with 58 warrior, never had charm land on either of us. MR was around 80, and 120 respectively. Fear landed a few times, but never lasted more than a few seconds. Eventually harvested 8 hairs. At 65, even if they did manage to charm you, what harm could it do?

To the BL guy, See if you can get a 62+ enchanter to cast Guard of Druzzil on you, 75 MR lasts 50 min without extenders, that should increase your MR some.

                  Thanks advice.. guy.

I take it to mean that we can fight these things or is that just an attempt to make enchanters look good? =P

Probably no use in getting any buffs since the sirens will dispell them all.

To the original poster, at level 65 the sirens were not able to touch me, you should be fine soloing them.

My 54 shaman solos these just fine, only time it's a little dangerous is when I get 3 or 4. If your MR is >100, they're not too tough, just watch the resisted messages fly by. I MR buff my pet and cure tashes as needed between fights, they've only charmed it once. (Six hairs, three failed attempts so far with geerlok, but I did get a skill up to 159. :? )

At level 60, i owned the green ones, flat out. They barely touched me. I think i got mezzed twice for a couple seconds.

The only problem i see is that at lvl 60 there are greens, light blues and blues. at 65 theyre all probably going to be green because of the XP level changes 61+.

That said, if you have only died 4 times soloing ever, then you know how to do your job. You will have no problems with them at all.
