  • Help needed with DON Cultural combine!

    Hi all,

After many hours of frustration im posting here to see if any of you guys (or girls) are able to spot where I am going wrong with one of the combines for the DON Half Elf cultural armor.

So far I have done the quest for the Ancestral book, I have made the patterns, cultural needle and the Half Elf sewing kit.

The point at which I am stuck is making the armor. A have followed the recipes posted on this site but keep getting the message "you cannot combine these items in this container type".

For example, I have been trying to make a Grandmaster's runeseeker armband.

I have combined the following items in my Half Elf sewing kit.
    one grandmasters wrist symbol pattern
    one grandmasters runeseeker swatch
one large spool of rilsteel thread
    one norrathian needle.

This is the same as the recipe listed on this site except they say use a "pattern for half elven wristguards". I have assumed that this is the same thing as "grandmasters wrist symbol pattern".

I guess I am making a simple mistake but for as long as I look at what I am doing I can't see where I am going wrong. Perhaps its a case of not seeing the wood for the trees

Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong would sure be gratefully received.

    Thanks

Use mithril thread instead of rilsteel and a wood elf needle instead of norrathan :-)

The pattern for the wristguards is *not* the same pattern for the wrist symbol - you make a pack of patterns for the actual armor from the Ancestral (whatever) Book, and the Symbol (augment) pattern books are labelled Journeyman, Expert, Master and Grandmaster. Wrong pattern Time to go make another backpack of the right ones in your hometown.

Instructions for tailoring patterns are here.

A big thanks to those that replied, especially Aleksandos, as it was a result of his advice that I am now a proud owner of a practically a full set of armor (just need some more glossy hides to make the tunic and get full set).

The problem was that I had been using the wrong patterns to make the armor as Aleksandos suggested. What I still dont understand is how I cam to be in possession of the symbol patterns before I had even completed the tasks for them

Anyways, had better log b4 my boss looks over my shoulder and says "wtf are u looking at now"

Very pleased to be of service That suit of armor will hold up well, with augment slots further bolstering it's usable lifespan, and the occasional aug removal and place in next step will keep things pretty constant. Wearing several pieces of this myself, and loving the versatility given with *3* augment slots to mix and match.
