GM aug quest

I've been trying to get an impeccable kirin horn so I can finish up the last step of my GM aug quest (vah shir). None dropped so far in the normal version of stillmoon after killing many loremasters and other kirin there. I looted one from a kirin during an instanced mission in Thundercrest, but it did not update my quest, so I guess only a Stillmoon drop will work. We did a diseased puma mission next and killed many kirin but had no luck.

Do they drop in the mission or the normal version of Stillmoon? For those who finished their GM quests for their own race, did your final drop come from a normal or instanced zone? I just would like to know where to concentrate my time.

Items for all the GM quests will only drop in DoN instances, not in the normal zones.

Not exactly true. The items will drop in non-instanced zones also... HOWEVER the drop will not count towards you having looted then item in a non-instanced zone.

Basically, that means you have to loot the item in the Instanced Only Zones.

Sounds like you need to have an INSTANCED mission in Stillmoon.

1. The normal zone doesn't count.
2. Any other zone you loot the item in won't count.

For example, I looted arachnid eyeclusters from spiders in an instanced mission in the Ascent zone, they did not count because I need to loot them from Lavaspinners spiders. Nor does looting them in the non-instanced zone work.

Both of my looted kirin horns came from instanced missions. One from Thundercrest, one from Stillmoon.

I can't speak for this as pure fact as I have not tested it, but do the spiders in The Ascent have "Lavaspinner" in their name?

iirc, In order for drops to count, the mob has to have the exact name of one listed in the Task in order for it to count, in addition to being in the correct zone.

Not sure if this still works or not, but for my loot 80 drake claws portion of my GM quest I got an enchanter to help me out. I went to the regular Stillmoon and I would pull the drakes to her so she could charm them. I would then put 4 claws on them and break the charm. I then killed them and looted the claws and got credit for each. The reason I only put 4 on them was that I learned they only have a limited number of loot slots and 4 seemed to be the most I could put on one without a chance of losing 1 or more because they already had loot on them. Anyway, thats how I did mine. Went really well.

They mentioned in a patch that they had removed the 'charm cheat' for looting stuff to do these quests.

Last night I finally finished the vah shir GM aug quest. Just like someone posted above, I had to loot an impeccable kirin horn from a loremaster while in Stillmoon. It works, you just have to EXACTLY follow the description in the quest log. Other types of kirins in Stillmoon won't work, neither will loremasters in other instances like Thundercrest.

Had a bad moment when I went LD on zoning before I gave instructions to my group on the mission and about the horn I needed. Logged back in just in time to see a friend loot an impeccable horn from a loremaster!! Couldn't believe my luck that a second one dropped on our last kill when the mission was over.
