Coldian Ring Quest Blanket

Ok as far as I can tell, I am extremely unlucky with making this blanket. So far I've failed 3 times with a skill of 54 (its trival at 41). Everyone else I know of (at least 4 people) have made the blanket on the first try with a skill of 41 or less.

Is there a trick to getting something to combine - should I make sure to get my dex/wis buffed before trying again (my wis is not great but if I steal my cleric's gear I can get it up fairly high)? The last time I did it I had a geerlok and a sword +20 dex in my hands and I still failed.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It actually trivials at 83 or thereabouts....

This step can be multi-quested, btw. Have someone with sufficient skill make the blanket (is no drop), turn in blanket and get the 1st ring. Now you follow Boridain, loot the bear pelt, get the axe. Your tailor turns in 1st ring, you turn in axe, congratulations on your new 2nd coldain ring!

Everything I've ready says it is trival at 41 - not sure where you are getting 83 from. And I'll be happy to post if it is trival or not to me when I make it.

I know I can chain it to get the 2nd ring but at this point its kinda me against the game and I want to be able to do it on my own after 3 failures - I'll probably try 1 more and if I can't do it I'll get a friend with a really good skill to do it...

Just confirmed with my bf who is also doing the quest that it was trival to him at 41...

It is not trivial at 83. I did the combine with a tailoing skill of 54 and it was trivial.

Dunno, by the time I made my first blanket, I was over 100 skill. The individual that MQ'd my first ring for me said it wasn't trivial for him at 76 skill--but that was quite a while ago, it's possible they've since changed the trivial. Or it's possible he was mistaken.
