Drop Rate on Obsidianwood Sap?

Since PoP came out I managed to find *1* Obsidianwood sap on a vendor.
I just recently got PoFire flagged, and have been spending every moment i can in Fire soloing spiders. (Getting groups out of BoT/Earth is like pulling teeth). 85% of the time in the only person in the zone. The rest of the time theres 1 wizard doin tables or theres a raid.

Ive probably killed 50-60 spiders have gotten a total of *1* sap.
So now i have a total of 2. Its been 2 days now with no drops, so i cant even take my first attempt/failure.
Killing goes pretty slow, as it takes a few minutes just to track a spider, pull it safely to the edge, and root+shoot it down. I can kill about 8-10 an hour on a good hour.

What is the average/normal drop rate for these things? Or am i just hitting the wrong mobs? The trained obsidianwood spiders around the crater/islands are a bit too crowded in and theres no place to park them.

Any info/help here?

Sounds about right and lucky me, I failed 7 times! You are lucky you found one on a vendor.

I've had one success, one failure. I've bought 4 from other players, got one off the first spider I killed just to the south of the entry, and then another one on spiders near entry after another 4-6 hours farming. OUt of them now, time to farm more and try again.

Woot! had a couple friends out in fire earlier today aparently, and they got me 4 more saps (this is after 2 failed attempts). About an hour of camping spiders netted me one offa one spider and *2* offa another. woot!

Made the tunic on my next combine (so it was my 3rd total combine).

Grimel has his dang tunic, and now i need Air Arachnid Silk. Bleh...

Grats Splunge. For others that are feeling the pain of getting the saps and/or failing miserably on the robe - how bout this - 2nd try at robe and I failed on making the Firestrand Curing Agent - a ****ed trivial fail. I don't mind failing on non-trivial attempts, but on something that is rare enough as it is to get in the first place, shouldn't have a trivial failure attached to it to add insult to injury. Granted, that's just imho

Do the spiderlings (dark blue and light blue at 65) also drop the sap or only the spiders (as it is written in EQTC database) ?

The dark blue spiderlings do drop saps, the DC bait light blue ones do not.

Ok, final tally success, failure, succes... 2 for 3. Think I got lucky.
