Bar of enchanted pure velium?

Maybe I'm just dense, but I can't seem to get this recipe to work. Is the coldain smithy hammer the same velium smithy hammer that is used in making other recipes like folded sheets? I've double checked all the other components to make sure I'm not driving myself nuts by trying to use a normal water flask instead of purified water or something like that. Someone point me in the right direction plz.

The coldain smithing hammer is NOT the same as the velium smithy hammer used to make sheets. Stupid question maybe, but did you remember to put your previous signet in, too?

Edit: On closer inspection, the coldain smithing hammer might not be sold. I think it's part of the coldain rings quest, but it is droppable.

The hammer is from Tain Hammerfrost in EW. He is the dwarf lying on the ground. Tell him 'I will help' and this causes 5 giants (maybe its 4) to spawn and start running towards him. Kill the named giant and give Tain the vial he drops in order to get the hammer. And yes it is tradable.

Yes, the giants were a handful for a bunch of mostly greenies. Kitty took a couple and I tanked the named a few others. I did have to pop a paragon, but not too much trouble besides that, even for a pre-elemental beast.

Careful. They may be green but they hit for over 100. Thought i was just gonna mow em down, but after the batch of 5 of em got me down to 50% quickly, i decided a root+shoot method was better. They did eventually go down without much further hassle. (yes, theyre root/snareable).

I'd like to suggest that there be a link in the write-up for the Aid Grimel quest about the sub-quest needed for the Coldain Smithy Hammer.

The write-up says nothing about the hammer other then it's needed, no hint given that there is a short quest needed to recieve it. Given the way it's currently listed, it seemed to me that it was just a vendor item.

Even the lookup for it via the EQtraders search option doesn't explain it's a quest item, as it gives no source for it.

The jewelcraft section of Aid Grimel write-up DOES tell you about the etching tools you need, and how to get them. I think the hammer has been simply overlooked.

This is a very good Suggestion... I will add a note to the Hammer about the quest... but I will look for a better write-up, or make one myself later.
