Can anyone give me pointers on aquiring HQ Tundra Kodiak Pelts? I have been hunting in EW for weeks and the Kodiaks themselves seem to be fairly uncommon let alone the pelts. I have come by one (bought another in the bazaar 500pp - I refuse to pay more). Unfortuneatly I failed the attempt to make the blanket *which I had read was trivial at like 40 something. I have a tailoring skill of 157 and failed. ( ... as a side note I didn't see the "you can no longer advance your skills" message either. Makes me wonder if it has a higher trivial level.

Anyway ... need to vent cause I was fairly upset, and have toyed with the idea of quiting this quest all together. However I have done all the stuff up to part 5. Just need to get this first one done for the initial ring then I can finish up the ones I have preped for.

Well thanks for any advice on hunting those {expletive removed}Kodiaks.

Thanks Rewde - Didn't realize that.

Draw a line from the bridge to Kael, draw a vertical line dividing the zone into east and west. Kill everything in the south east quadron repeatedly (except the quest dwarf, the giants, and the orcs if they wonder near). Bring a tracker and someone doing the 3rd shawl along too. You should get snow griffon and kodiaks to spawn quite often.

Also, the kodiaks near the Great Divide zone tend to drop HQ more often than the ones near the bridge (at least that is my recollection). Snow bunnies seem to be the generic placeholder for stuff, so get out your holy hand grenade of antioch, and count to 3....

You never get the trivial message on a failure, only when you succeed in making the item.

Man, you failed at 157?! I failed at 46 and was pretty frustrated... I'd have put something through the monitor, I think. The only HQ Tundra skin that I saw on Sullon was 1500 plat. Freakin' criminals... Still doing Tundra Kodiak genocide. Thanks for the tips, folks. Have tailoring in the 50s now, going to try when I get one more skin. Will post back with results re trivial.

            grrr, me too

I failed the blanket with a skill of 140ish - boy was i ticked. The cougarskins were easy, but I havent had the will to go back and hunt kodiaks lately... If i see one in the bazaar (which is really rare) it is selling for 2k+

this was the hardest part for my shadowknight, too...think i tried the combine 4 times before she finally made her blankie. spent over two weeks alone running around killing everything in sight to get enough pelts for 'em. a few guild rangers and druids came along to help, feeling sorry for me, but they could barely find more than me.
every bunny i see in ew still gets slaughtered. which has become a running joke among a few guildmates

                  Trivial at 66

Well, in the interests of narrowing down the possible trivials, I would like to report that I succeeded the other night with a skill of 66 in Tailoring.

I'll bet the Tundra Kodiaks are happy to see me go....

What level you succeeded/failed at doesn't help anyone narrow down trivials, it all depends if you got a trivial message upon a success. As someone above me said, you never get one on a failure.
