8th shawl vrs 7th shawl

Wow, finally posting on the forum after useing it for so long

Ok I have a fairly simple question: can I use my 8th shawl to get the issue kit from Loremaster Solstrin to MQ the final smithing combines for my other character or do I need to use a 7th shawl. I would test it but I'd rather not have my shawl eaten

If anyone has tried this and knows, please let me know

Both characters need the 7th shawl. Char one gets the issue kit, does everything as they normally would to do the quest. Character 2 hands in the 7th shawl at the very end of the walk and gets the 8th shawl. It works but both chars MUST have the 7th shawl.

I think he was asking if he could turn in the 8th shawl he already has on one char to get another Issue Kit.

I do not know if you will receive the Issue Kit, but I doubt it and I personally would not risk getting your 8th Shawl eaten. I re-did shawls 1-7 myself for the ability to get more Issue Kits in order to do MQ's for guildies or just for selling MQ's.

I dont see why this would work. The NPC takes the 7th shawl for the kit. Unless it was coded to also accept the 8th it should not work. In theory if you hand him the 8th he will return it saying I dont need this, but he can also eat it.

The 7th and 8th shawls are related by the quest but are still entirely different items. I would be extremely surprised if this worked. I don't believe anyone has ever tried it, however.

8th Shawl MQs

From what I've seen of one or two others MQing the armor for the 8th shawl.. you need to have the 7th as well ( Approved, or un-approved ) - so you can do the MQ several times.. but cannot use the 8th to recieve the issue kit. -- So.. back through the quests again I go.. at least I don't have to grind the Tradeskills a 2nd time *sighs*.

Youd probably have a better chance of getting the 8th shawl by handing the Avatar of Below a Bat Wing then you would getting the issue kit with the 8th shawl.

Devs have used bat wings as testing place holders for quest hand-ins, and forgotten to remove them off the 'accept' list. (i.e. the Shadowhaven Casino).

When they write the code for new quests, more than likely they know the idem database code for a bat wing off the top of their heads and only put in the code for the 'real' turn in item once they get the 'real' item itsself into the database.

So, try a bat wing. Whats the worst that could happen? You lose a bat-wing.
