  • Complete Walkthrough of new GoD "freebie" tradeskill quests.

I have just finished the GoD "freebie" tradeskill quests and I thought I'd write up the complete walkthrough here. All of these take place in Abysmal Sea. Several items to notice.

    - Just hail the NPC and follow the dialog and they will hand you the items you need to combine and return to the same NPC.
    - You can get skilled up to 54 using these methods for basically free.
    - There are 4 levels of skills you have to do for each trade.
    - Each level item has trivial at: 31, 38, 46 and 54.
    - You have to do 100 combine per each level. You can only do this 20 at a time.
    - When you turn in the items they must be UNSTACKED, i.e. 4 at a time.
    - Level 3 and 4 for pottery requires two steps, wheel and kiln.
    - You can fail these. I have failed couple of items in tailoring, at skill of 224 or 235 with Trophy, however couple of possible bugs:
    - If you fail 1 and only have combined 99 of items, NPC still gives you the next step after turning in 99 items, not 100.
    - It seems when looking at failure rate, it looks at raw skills not modified skills, i.e. skills without trophy/Geerlok. Need to verify this.
    - When noting /loc, pay attention to the last digits, they represent the height. With multiple levels, it's difficult to locate the NPCs.
    - Lastly, some of the NPCs seems to be bugged, specially baking one. If you find that after turning in 5 stacks (100 items) NPC gives you the 6th stack of the same, finish up that stack and turn them in. Then do the /hail again and follow the dialog again. This seems to reset and NPC gives you the next level items.

Handy summary - was wondering one thing. Did you happen to notice which ones started with a recipe book?

JC, Baking, and Brewing all did
    Pottery didn't

    haven't attempted the others

Funny I haven't thought about it at the time. They all did give you a recipe book except for Pottery. I ended up with 6.

Do these have to be done to be able to do GoD combines even when our skills are much higher to begin with?

Yes. The refining step anyways, you can have the npc refine it (for lesser yields) if you want though

I have been doing these quests in the hope that it will take my faction up from indifferent. I have almost all my tradeskills up to 200, so that isn't why I was doing them. Am I just spinning my wheels here, or am I missing something because my faction just will not go up.

              Faction

Have done them all and didn't see any faction messages nor noticed any faction changes.

The main purpose seems to be to get your skills to 54 and get the flags to do the new material combines.

What is the item you can refine?

I just completed the baking quest with Ordin. This allows you to refine the taelosian wheat into flour yourself. Haven't gotten any wheat to continue the quest with the woman next to him yet.

I was wondering what the finished set allows you to do for the ones other then baking?

I might be wrong, but I believe that the two NPC's are complimentary: if you do the quest and get the flag from either of them (one with free stuff they give you, the other with stuff you loot/buy), you no longer need to go to the one that will do the combine for those who don't have the flag.
