Aid quest - Jewlry step - coldain smithy hammer

I am at the point of the quest where you have to make the pure velium bar which requires a coldain smithy hammer.

I didn't realize that you had to do a special quest to get this hammer and spent about 2 hours wandering around Thurg looking for this hammer.

I looked on Allah's about the quest and finally found it as part of the 3rd ring quest.

Now the question I have is it says you are supposed to hail Tain hammersomethingorother and he will say something about help and you say something about helping him and then some giants will spawn nearby and you are supposed to kill the named one and get a vial from him.

The notes also say something about if you are fast enough killing the giant you can loot and give the vial back to Tain before he despawns.

If you aren't fast enough, can you just give him the vial next time he spawns and get the coldain smithy hammer?

before you hand in the vial (assuming he died the first time you tried) you MUST rehail him and respawn him as you did the first time to get the vial, or he just eats it.

At least he used to. not to sure if he hands it back now or not, but better than having to wait another 6 hours.

He will give it back to you if you don't re-hail him.

IIRC, you can buy these in the bazaar. They were cheap too.
