Another 8th shawl post (slight rant)

A while back I got shawl #7 and I've been going to WL to get the gems, as I have time. Yesterday morning I got all the gems I needed, with only two extra Diamonds.

My tailoring is 187 and smithing 174, but after getting to 200 in fletching, pottery, baking, and brewing, and 250 in JC and tinkering, I'm a little tired of trade skills, so I didn't feel like topping off tailoring and smithing.

So I do the combines, and I get 7 out of 8 peices. My only failure? Etching a stupid gem!!! And that's my highest skill! WITH a trophy!

So...back to WL to farm gems, knowing I'll get too many of the ones I don't need till I eventually get the one gem I do need.

When I farmed the gems, I brougt my etching tools with me and did them on the spot in case I failed, I could just stick around and get another.

It's reeeeeallly easy to get the gems right after a server pop. There are alot of shimmering up then compared to other times. Just be quick cause your not the only one that will be heading there after the server comes back up. I got all but 2 of my gems after one server re pop so it's a great time to be a farming.

Yes, I plan on taking the etching tools with me next time I go. I was only concerned about collecting gems the first few times and didn't have any idea what all else was involved in this step. But I have all the tempers and armor pieces I need, I just need that last gem now.

Thanks for the tips. If I remember correctly there is a patch due on the 16th. But I'll be at work till early evening so I can't log on right after the servers go live again.

Take the armor with you too, since the combine is done in the JC kit. I failed 2 of the armor + gem combines, but since I was already there, I could just keep going.

Funny...the same thing happened to me with the gems at approx the same skills and with a geerlok equipped despite being 250 skill. That happened before the success rates were upped for trivial combines so I'm wondering who at SOE has your name on a list Good luck taking that dwarf for a walk

I did the same thing Llaffer did. Brought everything with me to WL and camped there until I got all 8 pieces done.

Saturday morning I went back to WL with all the equipment I needed for the combine. I found a shimmering geonid up when I got there, but it dropped the wrong gem. I killed more for a while and finally got what I needed and did the combine.

Today, Sunday, December 21, 2003, I managed to get some people together and take the walk through Icecald!

I am now the proud owner of a Blessed Coldain Prayer Shawl!

Easy

Getting them gems is pretty easy I was able to solo most of the mobs as a 60 cleric, with anot much difficulty.. adds would end that party quickly. Bring the etching tools and a jewerly kit with you, Although, with about 170 jewelcraft, and I also had 2 extra diamonds I've never failed makin a single peice, including the 2 BP's I made to sell afterwards.
