OMG...I can't believe this. When I think of the extra sapphires I let rot while hunting for the diamonds...

The fact that two bracers are needed REALLY needs to be made very clear in the write-up...apparently it is so self-evident I never even thought of it.

*sigh* So much for my plans for the night...

Um...it does mention it, twice in fact, in the armor recipe listing in the guide.

The comment was not a criticism of this site, just general grousing. My printouts from the quest write-up are from Alla, not from here. Printed in May of this year, back when I started the 7th shawl. IIRC, while I could find the recipes for the shawl combines here on this site earlier this year, and a general overview which was basically "beware of what you are getting into" I couldn't find actual quest write-ups for the shawls here at EQTC. This was before the new database went live. Maybe I was looking in the wrong place, I dunno, but at any rate, for some reason I ended up with write-ups from Alla and not here. And believe me, the ones I have printed out DO NOT mention 2 bracers. EVER.

to get to the writeup:

on the left hand side of the main page is the colun of links for the various features.. hit "quest"

from the list that that brings up, hit "veliuos quests"

from there you can choose whichever shawl you are working on.

Prior to the new database, on that page you mentioned that gave an overview, there was a column on the left that had a link to all the shawls.

KK I must have missed the link on the side, because I remember thinking at the time it was really odd that eqtc didnt have the write-up, but instead just an overview. I woulda gotten it from here had I been able to find it. As it was, I am now over kicking myself and am, instead, now trying to find folks to go back to WL with me to get my final sapphire...

I checked your steps, and see everything looks fine... but I am confused by this statement.

I see in the side-bar menu, when Velious Quests is selected, a list of each shawl, with the proper link. And if I go to:

I see a list for each different shawl listed in the body of the article. If you are looking at a different page that is out of whack, I would like to fix it... can you help?

I can certainly feel for you. I was not looking forward to farming those gems. But as luck would have it, the day a friend offered to go with me a few other friends showed up and we made a party of it. We kept one of the big rooms cleared and the three or four rooms around it. It was a couple of hours or so of nonstop slaughter. I had expected a long boring camp and instead it turned out to be a great time.

Since I had no idea how cruel the RNG was going to be to me I grabbed every gem that dropped. I ended up with about 8 diamonds and four or five of the other two. I�ve made that armor and combined it in the box, but until I have my 8th shawl in my furry little hands I�m not going to delete my extra gems. Its when you�re sure nothing can go wrong that the RNG is at it most dangerous.

I grabbed some extra emeralds when they dropped in case the RNG hated me, but I had a really hard time getting ahold of the diamonds, and every time extra sapphires dropped, I was always with someone who was planning to do the shawl eventually and let them have them instead, so it did require an extra trip to get another sapphire.

After I succeeded all my combines, I destroyed my extra emeralds. How glad am I that the bracer required a sapphire and that I didnt destroy emeralds I coulda used, lol? As luck would have it, I got a couple friends together to go with me to WL and the second we entered the cave, three Shimmering Geos were up. Now...keep in mind, it took me about 7-8 total hours of farming to get my two diamonds. The first two of those three shimmering geos dropped diamonds. I was slightly insulted. The third one, however, dropped the sapphire I needed, which somewhat assuaged the insult.

Anyhoo...I am now the proud possessor of an Approved Coldain Issue Kit. Now all I need to do is wrangle up the gang that was gonna go with me last night on the trek across IC...

That was the old quest page Kraz, not this new one

She described the old shawl page where you went to the Overview page, then had to select each shawl from the menu on the left hand side. Only reason i recognized it, is it threw me for a few seconds too the first time i used it... as i didn't look at that menu, cause i figured it was the normal menu that's on all pages... not a specfic one only for the shawl (amazing what you're eyes do not read in their periphrial vision).

.. which is why she couldn't find the writeup for each specific shawl back then.

Ambrya, for potentually good news, i've found that the sapphires seem to drop more than the diamonds and emeralds.. and while you're milage may vary a little with that, it seems to hold true for me every time i go (hence why i have 15 more sapphires in bank, and only 2 emeralds)...

LOL...lucky you! Every time I went, about 5 emeralds dropped for every sapphire, and about 15 emeralds for every diamond. Took a LONG time to get the diamonds. But I gotta say...after three trips specifically to get diamonds, it really added insult to injury that on my final trip for a sapphire for that that thrice-cursed overlooked bracer, three shimmering geos were already up when we got there, and the first two dropped diamonds, and the last one a sapphire. If only it had been that easy all along...*sigh*
