Aid Grimel JC- Coldain smithy Hammer ?

I have read that the you require a Coldain smithy Hammer for the JC step of Aid Grimel quest and you have to go see Tain Hammerfrost in order to procure it. Can any one tell me any more details please, Is it a mob to kill, if so what level are he/they ?? plus any other info would help.

You see Tain in Eastern waste and go through his text. 4-5 Giants spawn that try to kill him and you must protect him and get an item off the named one of the giants that spawn. You hand in the item and he gives you the hammer. The giants were green I believe to me at 65 except named was blue but easily killed. The only issue is all the adds you get from all the wanderers in EW. I justed kited the giants till I could get them al killed then looted the item. Unfortunatly they killed Tain so I had to come back later and do the turn in.

The named had about 4500 hp so not bad at all and hit me for 100's.

This is part of the Coldain rings quest and the hammer is not no drop, so ask around, quite a few people should still have it.

great thanks, got vial of stuff just have to wait for tain to respawn to do hand in. Then off to POV for sacred water (hate no drop items )

what i got from named giant was frozen elixer i tried to give to tain and i got the message i have know use for this ??

figured it out I had to hail him first and restart mob spawn.
